Last month saw the announcement of a long-term partnership between Sheffield Wednesday and Macron, the Hero company. Today marks the official unveiling of the new match kits designed by the Italian brand, which the Owls will wear throughout the coming season. The ‘Home’ kit features traditional colours and designs, whilst the “Away” kit boasts a ‘bold’ colour scheme.
The new “Home” shirt features a mandarin collar with white trim. The shirt boasts the classic vertical white and blue stripes, with the blue colour dominating the sleeves entirely, which are finished with white knitted trim. The distinctive graphic feature of the English club’s home shirt is the tone-on-tone mosaic-effect design found in the blue stripes, both on the front and on the lower back. The back of the neck is personalised with a label that echoes the shirt’s design on a blue background, alongside the Sheffield Wednesday logo. The words ‘WAWAW’ (We’re All Wednesday Aren’t We) are embroidered in white on the back of the neck. There are two options for the shorts: they can be white with black detailing or black with blue detailing; the same choice applies to the socks, which are either completely white or black with a blue top band.
The “Away” version has a markedly different colour scheme: it is pink. It features a mandarin collar with black trim, and the sleeve cuffs are also black. Here too, the shirt features a mosaic-effect design, which in this case is in anthracite grey. The inside of the back of the neck has the same features as the Home kit, and the word ‘WAWAW’ is embroidered in black on the back of the neck. The shorts are black with pink details, whilst the pink socks have two horizontal black stripes at the top.
Both jerseys have a slim fit; the main fabric is Softlock, and the micromesh inserts ensure excellent breathability.
The goalkeepers’ kits were also unveiled, featuring an interlaced geometric pattern that is embossed and tone-on-tone. The shirts, all with V-necks and black trim, come in three colours: silver, navy blue and orange.
