Macron, Víkingur e 66°North They join forces to create a special jersey that tells a story of sport, identity and solidarity. Made to support Ingvar Jónsson, Portier of Víkingur and former Icelandic national team player, to whom a tumor was diagnosed at the beginning of the year, the jersey is born as a charitable initiative: all proceeds from sales will be donated to him and his family.
The project intertwines the history of the club with that of 66°North, an historic Icelandic brand that in 2026 celebrates the centenary of its founding. The reference is to 1921, when Víkingur made its first away trip to the Icelandic championship, reaching the western fjords by ship to play a friendly against Ísfirðingar. It was precisely in those waters, in the same years, that the idea for what would become 66°North was taking shape. The jersey pays tribute to that journey and to the first team of Víkingur that managed to win the national title.
The design of the jersey pays homage to this historical period of the club by incorporating in the lower front part a vintage photograph of the team of Víkingur, which in the early 20th century won its first national titles. On the rest of the surface, which also features grey color to evoke the vintage photographs, a grid of grey lines is developed that reproduces meridians and parallels and which on the back intersects with the map of Iceland. What is highlighted in orange here is precisely the 66th parallel north, The reference to the latitude line of the Arctic Circle, from which the 66°North brand name derives. The orange color, the brand’s historical color, also recalls its first creation, the waterproof fisherman’s jacket, designed to make people in the sea more visible.
On the chest there are, both in orange and in silicone print, the Macron logo on the right side and on the left a special version of the Víkingur emblem, combined in this case with the 66°North logo.
What makes the project even more significant is the participation of all the sponsors of Víkingur, who gave up their own presence on the jersey to make room for the cause. A collective gesture that highlights how this collaboration goes beyond the field of play, putting a person and the community close to them at the center.
The jersey will be available for sale starting at 23:00, Icelandic time, through the Víkingur online store. Any remaining units will be available the following day during a special event at a 66°North store. The team will wear the jersey in the final match of the season, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, after which they will celebrate the conquest of the 2026 Icelandic championship. The shared hope is that Ingvar can join his teammates and fans to experience this moment together.
Through this initiative, Víkingur, Macron and 66°North They demonstrate how a jersey can preserve the history of a club, the origins of a brand and the concrete support for a person, transforming sport into an authentic expression of solidarity.
