The Italian rugby team is ready to take to the field, and the new kits that the Azzurri will wear during the upcoming Guinness Six Nations tournament fully embody the team’s fighting spirit. Blue and white characterise the national team’s new kits, enhanced by sophisticated and exclusive graphics that reflect the team’s close connection with the city and history of Rome. The jerseys are made from Eco-Fabric, a 100% polyester derived from recycled plastic – a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment fully shared by the F.I.R. and Macron, the world’s leading brand in rugby and technical sponsor of the Italian Rugby Federation.
The new ‘Home’ jersey, featuring a V-neck with white trim and a tricolour stripe, is light blue. The back of the neck is customised with a light blue background bearing the word ‘ITALIA’ and the Italian Rugby Federation logo. The front of the shirt features an embossed graphic texture with a repeated design of a gladiator’s helmet. On the back of the neck, in a tone-on-tone embossed finish, the word ‘ITALIA’ appears, with a reinforced tricolour stitching detail just below. On the chest, on the right, in white, is the Macron Hero, the Italian brand’s logo; on the left, over the heart, is the F.I.R. crest. Another exclusive graphic detail on the new ‘home’ shirt is the stylised, embossed design of the Colosseum at the bottom of the back of the shirt. The shorts are sky blue with white drawstrings, whilst the sky blue socks feature a white knitted top edge.
The ‘Alternate’ version, with a crew neck, features a white body whilst the shoulders and sleeves are navy blue. At shoulder height, there is a gradient effect, and the raglan sleeves feature tricolour stripes that are a clear nod to a historic jersey from the 1995–1996 season. On the front of the shirt, the same graphic design featuring gladiator helmets appears in a tone-on-tone finish, whilst at the bottom of the back of the shirt, a stylised design of the Colosseum stands out in embossed graphics. The back of the neck is customised as on the ‘Home’ kit, and the word ‘ITALIA’ is embossed on the nape of the neck. The shorts are navy blue with white drawstrings, whilst the navy blue socks feature three horizontal tricolour stripes along the top edge.
All the jerseys have a body-hugging fit and are made from Eco-Armevo fabric with Eco-Boditex inserts – materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability. The new match kits, as well as the exclusive range of clothing and merchandise that Macron produces for the Italian Rugby Federation, are available in the section dedicated to the Italian national team on the macron.com website.
