For a shark, the fin represents movement, balance and strength – essential elements on a rugby pitch too – and the Sale Sharks, who have the shark in their DNA, know this all too well. The shark’s fin is the defining motif of the new home kit unveiled by the English club – with over 160 years of history – which the team will wear throughout the coming competitive season. The new shirts are made from Eco-Fabric, a 100% polyester derived from recycled plastic – a conscious production choice in the name of sustainability and respect for the environment.
The new ‘Home’ kit, like last year’s, features a contrast between two shades of blue – one darker and the other slightly lighter. The shirt has a polo collar with white trim, the same colour as the sleeve cuffs. The back of the neck is personalised with the team logo against a background that echoes the shirt’s design. The shoulders, sleeves and sides feature an embossed design comprising a repeating pattern of shark fins, a detail taken from the club’s logo.
On the right side of the chest is the Macron Hero logo; on the left, over the heart, is the Sale Sharks crest. On the lower back of the shirt, in embossed graphics, is a design featuring a shark’s fin alongside the year the English club was founded: 1861. Completing the home kit are dark blue shorts with white drawstrings and side stripes featuring the same design as on the shirt. The blue socks have a white top edge with a thin red line and a wide horizontal white stripe down the centre.
The jerseys have a Body Fit cut; the main fabric used is Eco-Armevo and the inserts are made from Eco-Bodytex – materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability. The jerseys and clothing produced by Macron for the Sale Sharks are also available in the club’s dedicated section on the macron.com website.
