Green, as well as being the distinctive and identifying colour of the Comoros national team’s shirts, takes on an even more significant meaning and conveys a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment. This is thanks to the Eco-Softlock fabric (100% polyester made from recycled plastic and certified by the Global Recycled Standard) used by Macron, a leading international brand in the teamwear sector and technical sponsor of the ‘Celacanti’, to produce the new kits that the team will wear both in their Arab Cup qualifying match in Qatar against Palestine and in the Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament in which they will be participating for the first time in their history following their thrilling qualification last spring.

The partnership between Macron and the Comorian Football Federation also stems from a shared commitment to driving change, making mindful use of the resources our planet offers and creating high-quality products with minimal environmental impact. This green philosophy is reflected in the production of shirts made from Eco-Fabric 100%, which is derived from recycled plastic. Thirteen half-litre plastic bottles are recycled to produce a single shirt.

A message that takes on particular significance in a natural paradise such as the Comoros Islands. A paradise to be protected and preserved, just like every other place in the world, and where everyone must play their part. Macron has long chosen to be part of this change, and the “Macron 4 the Planet” project encapsulates the Italian brand’s commitment to greater environmental sustainability. This project includes the production of garments made from recycled polyester, the optimisation of materials used for packaging, and a significant reduction in paper usage.

The agreement between Macron and the Comorian Football Federation provides not only for the creation of a range of merchandise for fans, who will be able to purchase clothing both locally and online, but also for close collaboration on the development and technical advancement of Comorian football.

A project which, in collaboration with the Comoros national team, has resulted in the creation of match kits that best represent the team’s identity and sense of belonging to their colours and the symbols of Comorian tradition, whilst at the same time conveying a strong and positive message regarding the environment and respect for it.

The ‘Home’ kit worn by the Comoros national team in the Arab Cup match is green with a V-neck featuring two white stripes along the edge. The sleeves are white and feature a design with green “zigzag” lines; this design is also repeated, tone-on-tone, across the entire front of the shirt. The shorts are green with white side stripes, whilst the green socks feature a series of white horizontal stripes.
