Asteras Tripolis FC, a Greek club competing in the Super Liga Ellada, is undoubtedly the team that best represents the region of Arcadia; this strong sense of belonging to its local area, as well as the theme of environmental sustainability, are reflected in the design and graphics of the new ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ kits produced by Macron, the yellow-and-blues’ kit sponsor.

The new ‘Home’ shirt is yellow with a crew neck, featuring blue detailing on the collar and sleeve edges. On the front, the shirt features a design comprising tone-on-tone splashes of colour that create a subtle camouflage effect. The first reference to the historic region of ancient Greece is on the back of the neck, personalised with the team’s colours and the inscription ‘Et In Arcadia Ego’, a Latin phrase often found in 17th-century paintings or as the title of works by famous artists such as Guercino or Poussin, which seals the close relationship between the club and the region it represents.

A further tribute to the region can be found on the inner tape at the bottom of the shirt, where the phrase ‘Τριπολη Μαντινεια Κυνουρια Γορτυνια Μεγαλόπολη’ is repeated; (Tripoli, Mantineia, Kynouria, Gortyna, Megalopolis), all towns in Arcadia – a name that is also embroidered in blue on the crescent-shaped panel at the back, beneath the collar. At the bottom of the shirt, in embossed, tone-on-tone lettering, is the club’s year of foundation: 1931. On the right-hand side of the chest, in blue and with a silicone print, is the Macron Hero – the Italian brand’s logo – whilst on the left is the Asteras Tripolis FC crest. Yellow shorts with a blue thigh band and yellow socks with a blue top band complete the home match kit.

The “Away” version sends a clear message of commitment and awareness regarding environmental issues and the protection of the ecosystem, starting with the Eco-Fabric used by Macron to produce the shirt – specifically Eco-Softlock, a 100% polyester made from recycled plastic. The shirt is light blue with anthracite grey detailing around the mandarin collar and on the sleeve cuffs, and is embellished with a tone-on-tone geometric design that extends diagonally from the shoulders across the right-hand front. The back of the neck, as on the ’Home’ kit, is personalised with the club colours and the inscription ‘Et In Arcadia Ego’.

The word ‘ASTERAS’ is embroidered in grey on the back of the neck, whilst the bottom of the shirt features the very explicit phrase ‘THERE IS NO PLANET B’ in embossed lettering. On the chest, in grey, the Macron Hero logo appears alongside a ‘negative’ version of the Greek club’s crest. The shorts are anthracite grey with a royal blue drawstring and a yellow tip, whilst the light blue socks have an anthracite grey top edge.
