Edinburgh Rugby, the historic Scottish rugby club which will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year, and Macron, “the Hero company” and kit sponsor of the Scottish capital’s team, have unveiled the new “Home” and ‘Away’ kits that will be worn throughout the coming season. As they do every year, the Italian brand and the Edinburgh Rugby team have worked together to develop a new collection that fully showcases the club’s colours, symbols and tradition.
The new “Home” shirt is navy blue with a mandarin collar featuring burnt orange trim, a colour also found on the sleeve cuffs. The back of the neck is personalised with the team’s colours and crest. On the right side of the chest, in white, is the Macron Hero, the Italian brand’s logo; on the left, over the heart, is the Edinburgh Rugby crest. A defining feature of the Scots’ new home shirt is the sublimation-printed graphic on the sides and lower back of the shirt, which, in a geometric, tone-on-tone design, symbolically echoes the bricks of Edinburgh Castle – also featured in the club’s logo. Also on the back, in embossed lettering, is the inscription ‘EST 1872’, referring to the year the club was founded.
The “Away” shirt, which also features a mandarin collar, is burnt orange with navy blue trim on the collar and sleeves. The back of the neck is personalised in the same way as the ‘Home’ version, and the Macron Hero logo and the Edinburgh Rugby crest are featured in white on the chest. The away version features the same graphic design as the home shirt – the geometric pattern reminiscent of Edinburgh Castle – which in this case also appears on the front of the shirt as well as on the lower back. The text ‘EST 1872’ also appears on the back in tone-on-tone embossed lettering.
The shirts have a body-hugging fit and are made from Armevo and Bodytex fabrics, which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability and comfort on the pitch.
