The Scottish Rugby Union and Macron, the ‘Hero’ company and the SRU’s official kit supplier, have unveiled the new jerseys that the Scottish national team will wear in the upcoming 2021–2022 season. The shirts are made from Eco-Armevo, a 100% polyester derived from recycled plastic and certified by the Global Recycled Standard. This choice was made jointly by the SRU and Macron in the spirit of sustainability and respect for the environment.

The new ‘Home’ kit, which will be worn by both the men’s and women’s teams, features the traditional navy blue. The shirt has a crew neck with blue and purple detailing – colours that echo the shades of the Scottish national flag and the thistle flower. The same colour combination appears on the sleeve cuffs. The back of the neck is personalised with a navy blue label featuring a thistle petal design – a graphic motif that characterises the home kit – alongside the motto ‘#AsOne’. The sweatband inside the collar is personalised with the word ‘SCOTLAND’ repeated and interspersed with the SRU logo. On the white chest panel, the Macron Hero is embroidered on the right and the Scottish Rugby Union crest on the left. The Scottish national flag is embroidered on the outside of the back of the neck.

The distinctive feature of the new Home kit can be seen on the lower front, the sides and the lower rear. It is the design of thistle petals – the symbol of Scotland and the Scottish Rugby Union – rendered in an embossed, tone-on-tone finish.

The ‘Alternate’ version remains white, just as it was last season. It still features a crew neck with blue and purple detailing, a customised back neck and a sweatband with the word ‘SCOTLAND’ repeated. The Saltire, the Scottish flag, is embroidered on the outer back of the neck. On the chest, in navy blue, the Macron Hero and the Scottish Rugby Union logo are embroidered. The design mirrors that of the ‘Home’ jersey, with the embossed thistle petal motif featuring at the bottom of the shirt.

The match kits for Scotland 7’s were also unveiled, in both the ‘Home’ and ‘Alternate’ versions. The home shirt is navy blue with a collar featuring aqua green trim and white detailing. Aqua green is also used on the sleeve cuffs. The ‘Alternate’ shirt is aqua green with navy blue shoulders and sleeves. The entire front of the shirts features a tone-on-tone, embossed design of thistle petals, the symbol of Scotland and the Scottish Rugby Union. On the right-hand side of the chest is the Macron Hero logo, whilst on the left-hand side, over the heart, is the Scottish Rugby Union Sevens crest.
