The Sale Sharks, a British rugby club with 160 years of history behind them, and Macron – the ‘Hero’ company and, as of this year, the official kit supplier to the team competing in the Gallagher Premiership, the top tier of English club rugby – have unveiled the new match kits that the Sharks will wear throughout the coming season.
White and blue are the Sharks’ colours, and white and blue are also the shades that characterise the new kits that Macron has designed and produced for the English XV, combining the club’s tradition and symbols with high-quality, high-performance materials, meticulous design and sophisticated graphics.
The new ‘Home’ design is based on the contrast between two shades of blue: dark blue and royal blue. The shoulders, sleeves, sides and back are in dark blue, whilst the central front panel is in royal blue and is embellished with a series of horizontal white stripes that run from bottom to top, gradually becoming narrower. The jersey has a crew neck with a royal blue trim and white detailing. The same colour combination features on the knitted sleeve cuffs. The back of the neck is personalised with the club logo on a dark blue background.
On the right-hand side of the chest, in white, is the Macron Hero, the Italian brand’s logo; on the left, over the heart, is the Sale Sharks crest. At the bottom of the back of the shirt, in embossed lettering, is a design featuring a shark’s fin alongside the date 1861, the year the English club was founded.
The ‘Away’ version also features a crew neck, and the dominant colour is white, which contrasts with the black found in the detailing around the collar, on the sleeve cuffs and, most notably, on the front centre of the shirt. Here, in addition to the series of black horizontal stripes running from bottom to top and tapering in width – as on the Home kit – there is also a sublimated graphic on the chest that creates the effect of brushstrokes of colour (black and grey). On this graphic, both in white, the Macron Hero logo is positioned on the right and the Sale Sharks logo on the left. The back of the shirt also features the shark fin design with the club’s year of foundation.
Both jerseys have a Body Fit cut; the main fabric is Armevo, with Bodytex incorporated to give the garment lightness, a perfect fit and breathability.
