On the eve of their departure for the first match of the 2023 Rugby Europe Championship, the German national rugby team has revealed the new jumpers which will be worn during the new competitive season. The occasion is the match against Georgia, another national team whose shirt features the Macron the Hero, scheduled for Sunday 5 February at the Achvala Stadium in Tbilisi.

The new ‘Home Kit’The German national team’s 15th kit is a mix of black and anthracite grey. The black base of the shirt is embellished at the front with horizontal anthracite grey bands in sublimation print, which in turn feature red and gold detailing – a colour combination also found on the sleeve hems. The shirt has a V-neck, and the inside of the back neck is personalised with the colours of the German flag and the logo of the Deutscher Rugby-Verband, the federation with which Macron has been a technical partner since 2018, supplying kit for all the men’s and women’s national teams. On the right side of the chest, the Macron Hero is embroidered in gold, whilst on the left, over the heart, is the national team’s crest. The German flag is embroidered on the back of the neck, and the words ‘WIR LIEBEN RUGBY!’ (We love rugby!) appear in grey, embossed, at the bottom of the shirt. The home kit is completed by black shorts and black socks with two red and gold stripes along the top edge.

The version ‘Away’ It is red with a black crew neck. It echoes the design of the home shirt with horizontal stripes, in this case tone-on-tone, and with a gradient effect at the sides. The sleeve hems feature three stripes – black, red and gold – which echo the colours of the German flag and are also repeated at the bottom of the shirt. A vertical gold stripe runs down the sides, turning black at the underarm. The Macron Hero logo is embroidered in black on the chest alongside the national team logo. The back of the neck is personalised as on the home shirt, and on the back – beneath the collar and at the hem respectively – appear the German flag and the slogan ‘WIR LIEBEN RUGBY!’. Both the shorts and socks are red, with the socks featuring three horizontal black-red-gold stripes along the top edge.

The German national rugby team’s new match kits have a Body Fit and the fabrics used are, specifically, Armevo with inserts in Boditex, materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability.
