The strong link between the Reading FC and one’s own city is fully expressed in the new ‘Home’ shirt’ of the historic English club. The traditional design of the home shirt is complemented by a graphic depicting the most iconic buildings in the town in Berkshire.

This sense of belonging is also accompanied by a strong message of sustainability, a theme shared with Macron, technical partner of the Royals since 2019. The race kit is in fact Eco Fabric, a fabric made from 100% recycled plastic. This commitment to environmental protection is further underlined by the inclusion, on the back of the neck, of a reference to the graphic design that featured on Reading FC’s home shirt last season, which was intended to raise awareness of global warming.

The new ‘Home’, in its classic configuration as white and blue horizontal stripes, features a white polo neck with a knitted trim and a thin blue stripe. The central white band and the one at the bottom of the front, as well as the bottom of the back, feature sublimation prints of various city skyline designs, showcasing Reading’s most iconic buildings. This distinctive graphic design also appears, in part, on the sleeves. The back of the neck is personalised with the club’s colours and the logo of the Reading FC, the logo Macron and the words, ‘Designed in Bologna’ to certify and highlight that every garment is conceived, designed and developed in the capital of Emilia. A further detail on the back of the neck is the multicoloured stripe that appeared on the sleeves of the Royals’ first kit last year. These are the climate stripes, devised in collaboration with the University of Reading and created by Professor Ed Hawkins, which illustrate the change in temperature that the English city has experienced in recent years due to global warming.

On the chest, on the right, in blue, the Macron the Hero, with the Reading FC crest on the left. The outside of the collar features a printed design of the crown, which appears in the club crest alongside the lion. The shorts are white with blue side stripes; the blue socks have a white horizontal stripe down the centre, whilst the white cuff features two horizontal stripes – one blue and one red. The fit of the shirt is Slim fit, the main fabric is Eco Softlock and the back panel is made of Eco Micromesh and inserts made of Eco Mesh They ensure the garment is lightweight and perfectly breathable.

The new ‘Home’ kit, along with Reading FC’s other match kits, is available at the a section on the website specifically dedicated to the English club macron.com.
