A new, exciting and challenging season is just around the corner, and all the Welsh Rugby Union’s national teams are preparing to give it their all. From the men’s national team to the women’s side, which will take to the field in the coming days at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, from rugby sevens (which competed last month at the Rugby World Cup in South Africa) to the youth programme. This preparation cannot be separated from race kit, technical training wear and the travel range.

For the Rugby World Cup to be held in New Zealand, the women’s national team will wear a ‘Welsh red’ ‘home’ jersey with a V-neck and white trim. On the chest, using sublimation printing, there are lines in a lighter shade of red that form a V-shape, inspired by the lower part of the Wales crest patch applied to the chest. The ‘Away’ kit is all black with white and green detailing on the collar and sleeve cuffs. Both the front and back of the shirt feature a tone-on-tone graphic design with irregular geometric shapes.

The new Pathway and 7’s match kits feature a shared design centred on the graphic representation of the sound wave from the Welsh national anthem, which is printed using sublimation on the front of the shirt and the sleeves, and repeated as an embossed graphic on the bottom of the back of the shirt. The ‘Home’ jersey is ‘Welsh red’ with a crew neck in both the Pathway and 7’s versions. The collar and sleeve edges are accented with three stripes (green-white-green). Green also features in the inserts on the shoulders and on the lower front of the shirt. On the chest, the Macron Hero is embroidered in white on the right, whilst the Welsh Rugby Union crest is positioned on the left, over the heart. The graphic representation of the Welsh national anthem’s sound also features on the ‘Away’ version, which is white with a gradient effect on the sleeves – these are partly dark green with red and white striped edging. Here too, the soundwave graphic is printed using sublimation, tone-on-tone, on the front, and embossed on the back against the jersey’s background.

All the kits are made from fabric Eco-Fabric, 100% polyester made from recycled plastic and certified to the Global Recycled Standard. Specifically, the fabrics used are Eco-Armevo and Eco-Bodytex, which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability. This sends a strong message of sustainability and respect for the environment – a choice and a commitment that is shared and embraced by the Welsh Rugby Union.

The training and travel collections are extensive and varied, starting with the exclusive Anthem Jacket in Welsh red with diagonal white stripes on the sleeves and along the bottom of the jacket. Black and grey characterise the entire range of jerseys, vests, shorts, sweatshirts and training trousers. In the collection dedicated to the youth teams, the black training shirt once again features the sublimation-printed graphic of the sound wave from the Welsh national anthem, this time positioned in the centre of the shirt and on the shoulders in an anthracite grey shade.

As for the range travel Black and grey, featuring tone-on-tone geometric patterns, characterise most of the garments. Hooded and hoodless sweatshirts, polo shirts, T-shirts, long and short trousers, and padded jackets and coats – all crafted from high-quality technical fabrics and featuring an elegant and exclusive design.
