The San Marino national team takes to the pitch this evening for a historic clash against England, as part of the qualifiers for the upcoming World Cup. It is historic not only because of the setting and the stature of the opposition, but also because of the special ‘limited edition’ kit, produced by Macron, celebrating the 90-year history of the San Marino Football Federation. It is a unique shirt, from the colours used – taken from San Marino’s first historic flag (from 1465 to 1797) – right through to the graphic details that reflect the nation’s identity.
The shirt has a white polo collar and features three diagonal stripes which, starting from the top, are orange, white and crimson – the colours of the flag that hangs in the Hall of the Great and General Council of San Marino. On the front, on the purple stripe, the outline of San Marino’s borders is depicted in embossed, tone-on-tone graphics, with the locations of the nine castles marked within it. The back of the neck is personalised with a label that echoes the colours of the shirt, alongside the inscription ‘90 ANNI’. Embroidered in white on the back of the neck is the acronym FSGC, along with the year 1931 and the word ‘San Marino’, using the font and style of the Federation’s new logo.
On the chest, in white, the Macron Hero – the Italian brand’s logo – is embroidered on the right, whilst the new San Marino national team logo is on the left, over the heart. The commemorative kit is completed by crimson red shorts with orange side stripes and white drawstrings. The socks are deep red with two white horizontal stripes along the top edge. The shirt has a slim fit; the main fabric is Gotex, and the inclusion of micromesh panels ensures excellent breathability.
This ‘limited edition’ shirt will be available in two different formats (the shirt on its own or as part of a full kit) presented in special packaging. Two sets of 90 pieces, numbered from 1 to 90. The kit is available to purchase from the FSGC online shop and at the San Marino Stadium retail outlets.
