Balancing responsibility and sustainability: Andrea Mundici’s journey at Macron

Andrea Mundici shares his experience at Macron as an R&D and Compliance Specialist, working across materials research, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. A growth journey that brings together responsibility, collaboration, and innovation.
July 03, 2026

Andrea Mundici, R&D and Compliance Specialist, joined Macron in November 2023 through an internship as part of a Master’s programme in Business Management and Sustainability.

Since then, he has been working within the Research & Development department, focusing on materials, voluntary certifications, and regulatory compliance, areas that are becoming increasingly important for European companies.

A role at the intersection of materials and compliance

“My job combines textile research with a daily focus on environmental regulations. It’s a role that requires staying constantly up to date and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and European legislation.”

Among his responsibilities, Andrea contributed to the preparation of the company’s Sustainability Report, a cross-functional project involving multiple departments and extensive data collection. He coordinated the environmental section, working closely with stakeholders ranging from institutions to customers to ensure that the company’s sustainability strategies were both consistent and actionable.

At the same time, he manages Research & Development projects throughout the entire product lifecycle: from concept and production to material recycling for the creation of new yarns.

His role also includes monitoring suppliers against internationally recognised ethical and social standards:

“Independent third-party auditors assess areas such as working hours management, employee welfare and environmental protection. Their findings help us identify where suppliers can improve and provide clear guidance to maintain high standards throughout the entire supply chain.”

A dynamic and cross-functional environment

Andrea describes his role as both challenging and constantly evolving. Working with every department gives him the opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate across teams and continuously expand his knowledge.

“It’s a genuinely young and dynamic environment where you’re given responsibility from day one. You have the opportunity to show what you’re capable of and achieve real results.”

For those who are passionate about sport, the role offers an additional source of motivation:

“You don’t just see products on a screen, you understand how they’re made. A rugby jersey, for example, is very different from a football shirt. Learning about the materials and production processes gives you a completely different perspective.”

Growth, responsibility and job satisfaction

Andrea describes his experience as a balance between responsibility and professional growth. Every project, every audit and every interaction with different departments represents a stimulating challenge that contributes to his development.

“It’s a demanding environment, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. From the very beginning, you’re encouraged to challenge yourself and you really have the opportunity to make a difference.”

Andrea’s story reflects how innovation, sustainability and collaboration come together every day at Macron, offering people the opportunity to grow professionally while making a tangible contribution to the company’s future.
