The Macron Hero is set to further strengthen its presence in the Scottish Premiership. Macron, international leader in sportswear and specialist in teamwear, has become the new technical partner of Aberdeen FC. The Italian brand and the Scottish club have announced a multi-year partnership covering the supply of technical apparel for coaching staff and teams, from the first team through to the academy and women’s side, as well as the creation of a dedicated range of clothing and merchandise for the club’s supporters.
Aberdeen FC has competed in the Scottish top flight since 1905, just two years after its foundation in 1903 following the merger of three clubs (Aberdeen, Victoria United and Orion) from the historic Scottish city overlooking the North Sea, known as the “Granite City” due to the characteristic grey granite extracted from local quarries and used throughout its architecture. Since gaining promotion to the top division, Aberdeen FC has never been relegated, a record shared only with Celtic FC.
The most celebrated period in the history of “The Dons” came during the first half of the 1980s under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson. Across seven seasons, the club won three league titles, one Drybrough Cup, four Scottish Cups, the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and one League Cup. Those two European triumphs make Aberdeen FC the most successful Scottish club in international competitions after the Glasgow giants. Altogether, the club’s honours include four league titles, eight Scottish Cups, six Scottish League Cups, two Drybrough Cups, one Scottish Qualifying Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup (1982/83) and one UEFA Super Cup (1983).
A history rich in identity, tradition and sense of belonging that Macron will interpret through the creation of a match kit and collections designed to celebrate the club’s symbols and its deep connection with Pittodrie Stadium and its supporters. The new collections will combine contemporary design, performance and attention to detail with a strong commitment to sustainability: the garments will be made using Eco Fabric, materials produced entirely from post-consumer recycled plastic.
“Aberdeen FC is a club with a long and prestigious history. We are delighted that the Macron Hero will feature on their shirts”, said Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “This partnership further enriches Macron’s portfolio of clubs in the Scottish top division and confirms how the uniqueness, quality and identity of our products are recognised internationally. Telling the story and values of Aberdeen through a match kit and dedicated collections represents a new opportunity for us to develop products capable of expressing the spirit of the club and the sense of belonging of its supporters in the best possible way.”
“We are delighted to welcome Macron as our new official kit partner. Macron’s reputation for quality, design, and working closely with clubs to capture their identity made them the right choice for Aberdeen FC, following what was a very competitive process,” stated Alan Burrows, Chief Executive, Aberdeen FC.“From our first conversations, it was clear that Macron understood what Aberdeen FC means to its supporters, and that they had the creativity, and ambition to match it. The new kit ranges will reflect our unique identity, and we know our fans will be proud to wear it.”
