Yongin Samsung Life BLUEMINX Basketball
Yongin Samsung Life BLUEMINX Basket is a new addition to Macron’s roster. The club was founded in 1977 and is one of South Korea’s top teams. In 1984, at the Los Angeles Olympics, the South Korean women’s basketball team won the silver medal with five BLUEMINX players and the same coach. This Olympic success gave a significant boost to the entire basketball movement, and in 1998 South Korea’s first professional basketball league, the WKBL, was launched.
The club is part of the city
The club’s social commitment is impressive. Over the years, it has involved the local community in many initiatives. The most significant of these is probably the “Dreams Come True Camp”, a programme dedicated to the city’s most talented secondary school pupils. The selected athletes spend two days at the club’s facilities, experiencing the life of professional players, training and sleeping alongside them. Thanks to this programme, the players stay motivated and do not give up the sport they love. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the club had to make some changes to the programme, but hopes to be able to offer the full experience again next year.
A look to the future
BLUEMINX Basket has a glorious past and a strong present, but above all, it is working towards the future!
Following their 2020/2021 championship title, they began laying the foundations for the years ahead and are now the youngest team in the WKBL. Their aim is to become a competitive force in the future, with talented players who have come through the club’s ranks.
Making tomorrow better than yesterday
A club is judged by its success, but you can’t win all the time. The journey is more important than victory: if you build a solid foundation, success will follow naturally. As a young club, the heroines of Yongin Samsung Life BLUEMINX Basket can only be the basketball players who are working towards a better tomorrow.
It’s not a victory that makes you a hero, but the hard work that goes into it. Improving every day is what drives us to success.
