CA Osasuna was founded in 1920 following a meeting of a group of people interested in football. The meeting took place at Café Kutz, a historic bar in the city where Ernest Hemingway was a regular. The club is deeply rooted in the culture and heritage of the city of Pamplona; its name derives from the Basque language and means “strength”, “vigor” and “health”. This spirit of encouragement has never been lacking in the Navarrese side, which has always enjoyed an incredible following, with the stands of the historic El Sadar – the club’s own stadium – always packed with supporters.

Among the most significant moments in the club’s history are also two Spanish Cup finals, the most recent of which was in 2023, when they narrowly lost to Real Madrid. The club has also enjoyed a number of appearances on the international stage, including a UEFA Cup semi-final in 2007 against Sevilla, who went on to win the trophy. The club’s best-ever finish in La Liga is fourth place, achieved on two occasions: in the 1990–91 and 2005–06 seasons.
