Macron enters the important South African rugby market, further expanding the boundaries of his leadership in the field of rugby. The Italian company is the new technical sponsor of the Emirates Lions, a South African 15-a-side rugby club that competes in the United Rugby Championship, a prestigious tournament between top clubs from Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Italy and South Africa. Known until now as Pro14, this summer saw the entry of four new South African teams, including the Lions.

The Emirates Lions were founded in 1997, but they carry on a legacy that goes back much further, to the founding of the Golden Lions Rugby Union in 1889. A long tradition and a series of successes belong to the history of South African rugby. The Lions play their home games at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, which has historically been one of the rugby houses of this country.

The multi-year agreement between Macron and Emirates Lions includes the supply of match kits and all the technical clothing that the Italian brand’s Style Office and the club’s staff have already developed to create a unique and exclusive collection that, along with the high quality and technicality of the garments, highlights the colors, symbols and history of the “Rooibontes”, as the Transvaal team was called, referring to their white jerseys with red circles. A nickname that has remained to this day.
