The Baggies.

Among the most iconic clubs in British football, West Bromwich Albion was founded in 1878 when a group of workers from George Salter’s Spring Work, a factory specializing in the manufacture of kitchen utensils, formed the West Bromwich Strollers (The name was chosen because to obtain the first ball, the young footballers had to wander around and reach the nearby town of Wednesbury.). Two years later the club adopted its current name, in which Albion is a reference to the neighborhood of West Bromwich where some of the players lived or worked. Over the years, important successes and trophies have come to enrich the club’s record, starting with the 5 FA Cups won and the title of English Champion obtained in 1920. The club’s record also includes an English League Cup and two FA Community Shields.

Many players have worn the white and blue jersey of West Bromwich Albion FC, among whom some have written indelible pages in the history of the English club, such as Jeff “The King” Astle. The striker was the author of unforgettable goals with the Baggies‘ jersey, such as the one scored in the first extra time of the 1968 FA Cup final victory. His connection with the English club is also witnessed by the bridge named after him in West Bromwich and by one of the stands of the stadium that since 2003 has been named ’Astle Gate‘. Another player who made an indelible mark among the Baggies is undoubtedly ’Captain Marvel’ Bryan Robson, who grew up in the club and who scored forty goals in seven years between 1975 and 1981 with that jersey.

“The relationship between Macron and English football is truly special and we are delighted to be able to count a club that represents the history of this sport as one of our partners, such as West Bromwich Albion. – he declared Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron – 146 years of history is an impressive ‘archive’ of emotions worthy of being told. Our strength and ability lies in making these emotions wearable. Our goal in the years to come will be to convey to those on the field and those in the stands the identity and sense of belonging to the club, combining style and design with the quality and technicality of innovative, performance-enhancing and sustainable fabrics.”.

“We are pleased to announce this collaboration with Macron, who has shown incredible care and attention since we started working with them 12 months ago – said the managing director of Albion, Mark Miles – In these months, they have created custom kits that we are sure our players and fans will wear with pleasure. Marcon is an innovative and constantly evolving sports brand, with which we look forward to working in the years to come.”.
