In a small town in the Hungarian countryside, as the sun sets on the horizon, a couple who are no longer in the first flush of youth raise a glass of chilled white wine, gazing tenderly into each other’s eyes. The love that binds them is plain to see. A love as unshakeable as that which Mr and Mrs Takács, married for a full 55 years, have for the colours of Kozármisleny FC, the local club competing in the second division of the Hungarian league, which they follow with passion, cheering them on at every match from the stands at the stadium in Alkotmány tér. Mr and Mrs Takács are the stars of a heart-warming video that the Hungarian club has produced with great creativity to mark World Senior Citizens’ Day, in which the pure love that has bound the couple for so many years is combined with their love for the colours of the team they have always supported. A love which, as Mr Takács says, makes them a team in everyday life just as much as on the pitch.

Knowing how to convey passion and a sense of belonging

The video, entitled “The Story About Love”, not only moved and emotionally engaged Kozármisleny FC supporters, but also attracted growing attention from national and international media, eventually winning one of the world’s most prestigious awards in sports marketing. The campaign was, in fact, recognised as Bronze Winner at the 2023 Clio Awards, a result that bears witness to the extraordinary work carried out by the Hungarian club. The couple at the centre of the campaign, whilst no longer young, wear their team’s shirt and share their story, conveying a clear message. A positive message centred on love – love for others and for their team’s colours. The staff at Kozármisleny FC are no strangers to this sort of project, designed to convey the value of love for their club’s colours. Last year, the club produced an extremely effective photographic campaign focusing specifically on women.

A small club with a big heart

Kozármisleny is a small town where everyone follows their local football team with love and enthusiasm. The commitment is total. Many residents work as volunteers simply because their passion and love for the town and the club are unbreakable. This bond also translates into significant achievements, because despite limited budgets, the club has managed to achieve notable results in recent years, including last year’s return to NB II and an excellent run this season. The secret? It lies in participation, in the strong sense of belonging and in the shared values that enable a community to be healthy, strong and independent.

Players: heroes of a community, heroes in their own right

For the children of Kozármisleny, the players are role models and heroes. These young people are part of a community and, every Sunday, they give their all to show that by working hard and together, they can achieve important goals and milestones. In this way, they become heroes of their community and heroes in their own right. Meanwhile, in the garden of their home, Mr and Mrs Takács sit at a table, playing a game of chess whilst wearing their Kozármisleny FC shirts. Exterior, daytime: the video fades out, but the magic of football remains unchanged.
