Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron: “The Macron Hero is ready to take to the field alongside World Rugby and ‘play for’ its World Cup”
It was a day dedicated to world rugby at Macron’s headquarters. Alan Gilpin, CEO of World Rugby, visited the Italian brand’s headquarters on the eve of the highlight of the rugby calendar, the Rugby World Cup 2023, which is set to kick off on 8 September in France. Since January 2022, Macron has been an official technical partner of World Rugby and supplies the technical kit for the Emirates World Rugby refereeing teams and for the staff, as well as the official merchandise range for the tournaments and competitions organised by the leading international rugby governing body, which oversees a sport comprising over 8 million players across 132 federations.
Welcomed by Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, Gilpin visited the Italian company’s headquarters in Bologna, before meeting with the journalists present to discuss, naturally, the World Cup and the importance this event holds on a global scale. This visibility must also translate into the achievement of the objectives set out in the World Rugby’s Environmental Sustainability Plan 2030 and the importance that a sport such as rugby holds for issues such as sustainability, inclusivity, environmental issues. The importance of having partners such as Macron, who share this vision and are actively committed to it, are essential to achieving the set objectives. Partners who move beyond their traditional role to become an integral part of a team striving to achieve a specific result.
Alan Gilpin, CEO of World Rugby, said: “Italy is at the heart of a sport that is becoming increasingly global and growing in popularity. Not only as a rugby nation with a strong and ambitious national federation, but also in terms of innovation and progress within the sport, which is reflected in our partnership with Macron. Macron’s technical expertise, combined with a passion for performance and respect for the environment, are qualities that align with our values and our mission to make sport accessible to everyone. We are all looking forward to seeing Macron kit in action at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, worn by the Emirates World Rugby Match Officials, the participating teams and fans from all over the world”.
“Rugby is undoubtedly our world, and being a partner of World Rugby confirms to us the global standing we have achieved in this sport. – he declared Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron – Today, Alan Gilpin had the opportunity to gain an insight into our organisation, our corporate ethos, and the passion and commitment we all pour into every minute of our day to create something unique and meaningful. The values of sport, a focus on environmental issues, and informed business decisions are the guiding principles we have chosen to follow in order to make a difference. The Rugby World Cup is a special occasion, the ‘high point’ of the international rugby movement, and for us, standing alongside World Rugby and the seven national teams who will take to the field wearing Macron in less than two months’ time represents a milestone and a very important moment. We can’t wait to showcase the quality, technical excellence and, at the same time, the style and design of our garments on such a vast stage. The Macron Hero is ready to take on the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and so are we.”.
