On Saturday 9 September, at the Stade de Bordeaux, the Romania’s national rugby team will take to the pitch for his debut in the 2023 Rugby World Cup against Ireland. The “Stejarii”, on that occasion, they will be wearing the new jumpers produced by Macron, technical partner of the Romanian Rugby Federation (FRR) since the start of 2021. The new home and away kits embody the colours, symbols, sense of community and team spirit of this Central and Eastern European country, and convey a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment. The Italian brand produces the shirts for all its national teams and clubs using the fabric Eco Fabric, 100% polyester % made from recycled plastic.

The new ‘Home Kit’Rugby Romania’s is yellow with a mandarin collar and blue trim. The right sleeve has a wide blue trim, whilst the left has a red one. Both feature a sublimation-printed design that draws on the geometric patterns typically found on traditional Romanian fabrics and garments. In particular, they are inspired by the traditional costumes of the dancers known as “Călușarii”, who performed an ancient Romanian dance with ancestral origins in ancient Dacia. It is a magical dance that brought well-being and wove away evil spirits. The Romanian flag is printed on the outer back of the collar. Embroidered on the chest in blue is the logo of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the Macron the Hero and the coat of arms of Rugby in Romania. The shorts are blue and the socks are yellow.

The version ‘Away’ è white, again featuring a mandarin collar edged in black. The wide sleeve cuffs are also black, above which a sublimation-printed design inspired by botanical motifs is featured – motifs that are a constant feature of traditional dress and evoke nature, its cycles and the importance of the rhythm of life and its dynamism. The Rugby World Cup, Macron Hero and Rugby Romania logos are embroidered in black, and the Romanian flag – in its classic vertical stripes of blue, yellow and red – appears on the outer back of the collar. The kit is completed by black shorts and white socks.

Both jumpers have a fit Body Fit, the fabric used is Echo Armevo with inserts in Echo Boditex, materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability.
