The blue of the Pacific Ocean, the flight of the seagulls, the symbols and the resilience of the Samoan people. All this is ‘told’ through the new jumpers that Manu Samoa, the Samoan national rugby union team will wear in the 2023 Rugby World Cup scheduled to take place in France from 8 September. Manu Samoa recently joined the family Macron And the Italian brand, which is increasingly establishing itself as an international leader in the world of rugby, has produced the new kits in which the Samoans will make their debut on 16 September at the Stade de Bordeaux against Chile.

These jerseys, which, as well as featuring symbols of Samoan tradition, also convey a message of sustainability and respect for the environment, as they are made from Eco Fabric, made from 100% polyester fabric derived from recycled plastic. In fact, around 13 0.5-litre bottles are recycled to produce each jumper.

The ‘Home Kit’It is blue with a V-neck and white detailing. The back of the neck is personalised with the national team’s colours and logo, and the lettering #FOLAUFAATASI (referring to the team’s journey to the World Cup), the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, to certify and highlight how each garment is conceived, designed and developed in the’Macron Headquarters. The collar features a personalised sweatband bearing the inscription MANU SAMOA repeated and interspersed with the Samoan national team logo. The sleeves feature a tone-on-tone sublimation print of five seagulls (‘gogosina’) which are arranged to form the Southern Cross constellation. Embroidered on the chest is the logo of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the Macron the Hero and the coat of arms of Manu Samoa. Another important graphic detail can be found at the bottom of the back of the jersey – also featuring a tone-on-tone sublimation print – depicting a tattoo, the “Pulatama”, which symbolises the transition from boyhood to manhood. The shorts are white and the blue socks have a white top edge.

The ‘ version‘Away Kit’, also with a V-neck and blue detailing, is white and replicates the design and graphic features of the ‘Home’ shirt in every respect. The back neck and tape are customised, and the sleeves feature a sublimation-printed design depicting seagulls in flight. At the bottom of the shirt, in a tone-on-tone design, is the image of the “Pulatama” and the 2023 Rugby World Cup logo and the Macron Hero are embroidered in blue on the chest, alongside the Manu Samoa crest. The shorts are blue with white drawstrings, whilst the white socks have a blue top edge. Both shirts have a Body Fit, the fabrics used are specifically Eco-Armevo with inserts in Eco-Boditex, materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability.
