Following the announcement of the launch of the partnership, the’Uruguayan Rugby Union e Macron, a leading figure in the world of rugby, presented the new game kits which the Uruguayan national teams will wear throughout the coming season. The sky blue and the sun-yellow – the colours that identify the South American XV – are enhanced by a design and graphics that have been crafted with meticulous attention to detail. As well as featuring symbols and historical and geographical references, the new shirts also convey a message of sustainability and respect for the environment, as they are made from Eco Fabric, a 100% polyester fabric made from recycled plastic. Each jersey is, in fact, made from the equivalent of around 13 0.5-litre bottles.
The new ‘Home’It is sky-blue with a polo neck and a white band along the sleeve edges. Both the front and back of the shirt feature a sublimated print, with a gradient effect creating a tone-on-tone pattern of clouds in various shades of blue. Repeated against this background is the ‘Sol de Mayo’, a 16-rayed sun (8 straight and 8 wavy), which is the national emblem featured on the Uruguayan flag. The back of the neck is personalised with a label featuring, on one side, the national flag alongside the logo of the Unión de Rugby del Uruguay, and on the other, against a background echoing the jersey’s design, the Macron logo and the inscription ‘Designed in Bologna’ which certifies that every garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Italian brand’s Macron Campus.
On the right-hand side of the chest is the Macron Hero logo, embroidered in white; on the left is the URU logo. The words are printed in white on the outside of the back of the collar ‘SABREMOS CUMPLIR’, a line from the Uruguayan national anthem. On the back of the shirt, the design of the 16-rayed sun stands out once again, again in sublimated print and in yellow. The shorts are white with light blue details, and the socks are light blue.
The ‘ version‘Away’ takes its cue from the design of the first shirt, but the dominant colour is golden yellow of the sun, and here too the background design is inspired by the Uruguayan sky, accompanied by the ‘Sol de Mayo’ motif. The sleeve hems and collar details on the polo shirt are light blue, and the back of the neck is customised in the same way as the home kit, as is the text on the back of the collar – taken from the national anthem – and the sun on the back of the shirt. The shorts are light blue with white drawstrings and yellow detailing; the socks are yellow.
Both jumpers have a fit Body Fit The fabrics used are, specifically, Eco-Armevo with inserts in Eco-Boditex, materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability.
