The Cardiff Rugby has unveiled the new match kits designed by Macron ahead of the 2024/2025 United Rugby Championship season, which kicks off in around a month’s time against Zebre Rugby Club. The sky blue and black colours represent the tradition of the Home, whilst for the version Alternate Red and black were chosen, enhanced by elegant gold detailing. The jumpers, like all the garments produced by Macron for their partner clubs, are in Eco Fabric, 100% polyester fabric made from recycled post-consumer plastic.

The Cardiff Rugby’s new home shirt It is sky blue, with black horizontal stripes edged by fine white lines. The shirt has a black crew neck with white and sky blue detailing, and the sleeve hems are also black. The sleeves and shoulders feature a tone-on-tone, slightly embossed chevron design, inspired by the motif in the club’s logo. The back of the neck is personalised with the club’s colours and logo, alongside the Macron logo and the text ‘Designed in Bologna’, to certify and highlight how each garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus. On the right-hand side of the chest, there is a sublimation print of the Macron the Hero and next to it, on the left, the coat of arms of the Cardiff Rugby. The number 1876 – the year the Cardiff Rugby Football Club was founded – is embroidered in white on the outer back of the collar. The lower back of the shirt features a wide black band, on which is embossed a shield design depicting the motif representing Cardiff’s three rivers. The home kit is completed by black shorts with side stripes that echo the shirt’s design. The sky-blue socks have a black top edge and a horizontal black band in the centre, flanked by white stripes. Above the ankle, on the front, the number ‘1876’ is written in white, whilst the ‘Macron Hero’ logo appears on the back.

The shirt Alternate It is red with a black crew neck and gold detailing. Black and gold also feature on the sleeve hems and the black side panels, which have gold piping. The shoulders and sleeves feature the tone-on-tone, embossed chevron pattern, which is also used on the Home kit. The back neckline is the same as on the home shirt, whilst the Macron Hero logo on the right-hand side of the chest is in gold and the outer back neckline features the year 1876 embroidered in white. This version also features the embossed crest at the bottom of the back of the shirt, which references the motif of Cardiff’s three rivers. The red shorts have black side stripes and gold detailing, whilst the red socks with a black top band feature the date ‘1876’ in gold on the front and the Macron Hero, also in gold, on the back of the calf.

The jumpers have a fit Body Fit and the fabrics used are Echo Armevo with inserts in Echo Bodytex and Eco Strong Mesh, which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability.
