For the’AEK BC, a historic Greek basketball club, the 2023–2024 season takes on special significance as it coincides with the celebrations marking the centenary of its foundation, which took place in Athens in 1924. The new Game Sets are the first to be produced by Macron, which, from this season onwards and for the next five years, will be working alongside AEK BC as a technical partner. Alongside the new logo commemorating the club’s centenary, combined with the traditional double-headed eagle symbol, the new kits convey the club’s history and identity through their colours and sophisticated design.

The new match kits for the league (home debut on 7 October against the Lavrio BC) and for the Basketball Champions League (the The first match will be the ‘’Macron derby’ against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg), are all made from Eco Fabric, made from 100% polyester fabric derived from recycled plastic. A green choice endorsed by both the club and its kit supplier, which conveys a strong message of sustainability and respect for the environment.

GAME SET A1 ETHNIKI 23–24

The new ‘Home’The AEK BC jersey for the A1 Ethniki, Greece’s top division, features wide vertical yellow and black stripes, with the black ones running down the sides and one down the centre. The V-neck and the yellow sleeves are finished with a thin black line. Within the yellow stripes, in a tone-on-tone effect, there is a repeated, gradient graphic depicting the double-headed eagle. The back of the neck is personalised with the colours and logo of the club’s centenary, alongside the Macron logo and the inscription ‘Designed in Bologna’, to certify and highlight how each garment is conceived, designed and developed at Macron’s headquarters. The back of the shirt is yellow apart from the wide black band across the shoulders, which features the player’s name, and, just above that, on the outside of the back of the neck, the Greek flag. On the right-hand side of the chest, one below the other in black, is the logo of the’AEK BC and the Macron the Hero. The shorts are yellow with black stripes down the sides.

The ‘ version‘Away’ features the same design as the home shirt, but with the colours reversed. Yellow is used for the two side stripes and the central stripe. The two black stripes, on the other hand, feature tone-on-tone graphics with a faded, repeated double-headed eagle. The V-neck and black sleeves have a yellow line on the inside. The back is black with a yellow band across the shoulders and, above that, the Greek national flag. The Greek club’s logo and the Macron Hero, positioned on the right, are in black. The black shorts feature yellow stripes down the sides.

GAME SET BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

As for the kit that AEK BC will wear for their Basketball Champions League matches, the new ‘Home’ is yellow with a V-neck and black detailing, which also features on the sleeves. The distinctive graphic feature of this shirt is the black gradient with a brushstroke effect on the shoulders – both at the front and back – as well as on the sides. The back of the neck is personalised with the Athens club’s colours, the centenary logo, the Macron logo and the inscription ‘Designed in Bologna’. On the right-hand side of the chest, in black, are both logos: that of AEK BC and the Macron Hero. The acronym AEK stands out in black in the centre of the shirt (Athletic Union of Constantinople). The shorts are yellow with black gradient graphics on the sides and lower back. The ‘Away’ is characterised by its black colour, with a yellow gradient on the shoulders and in the vertical stripe down the sides. The AEK BC logo and the Macron Hero emblem on the right side of the chest are also yellow, as is the ‘AEK’ lettering. The shorts are black with yellow gradient graphics on the sides and lower back.
