The sixth series of Canadian Premier League (CPL) It will kick off next weekend with the eight teams ready to take to the pitch, once again wearing a collection of fully customised kits produced by Macron, technical partner and official supplier to the CPL since its inception in 2019.

The 2024 CPL season is set to kick off on Saturday 13 April, when the’Atlético Ottawa will host York United FC in the Canadian capital. It is the first of three fixtures to kick off the new season, with reigning champions Forge FC going on to host Cavalry FC at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, in a rematch of the 2023 CPL Final. Finally, rounding off Saturday’s fixtures will be the match between Pacific FC and Halifax Wanderers, which will take place at Starlight Stadium in Langford, British Columbia. The opening day of the Canadian Premier League will conclude on Sunday 14 April in Langley, British Columbia, where the home side, Vancouver FC are waiting for the Valour FC.

Each CPL 2024 kit ‘reflects’ the identity of the club wearing it and embodies not only the close bond between the players and the communities they represent, but also their shared values. All kits are made from Eco Fabric, a fabric made entirely from recycled plastic, which conveys a strong message of environmental sustainability, underlining the commitment of Macron and the Canadian Premier League to a responsible approach to environmental protection.

ATLÉTICO OTTAWA

Atlético Ottawa, for the new Primary kit, features the classic red and white stripes, in this case characterised by a diagonal optical pattern in two different shades and the inscriptions “For Ottawa” and “Pour Ottawa”, in the two official languages of the province of Ontario. The version is certainly eye-catching Alternate which pays homage to the Radiant O, the symbol of Ottawa Tourism, representing the Canadian city’s warmth and inclusivity. The Radiant O has been fragmented and replicated on the shirt using a spray-paint effect, creating an explosion of colour that highlights the essence of the club and its city.

CAVALRY FC

The Province of Alberta and its strong links with the high-tech industry are the themes that inspire the Primary kit Cavalry FC’s red kit, which is known as the “Innovation City Kit” for this very reason. This ‘connection’ is represented by the diagonal graphic element in the centre of the shirt, in white on a red background. The kit Alternate, known as the “Northern Lights Kit”, is predominantly green with white and red detailing, and pays homage to the Northern Lights and the constellation of Pegasus, both of which are visible from Calgary, the northernmost city in the CPL and in the whole of CONCACAF. The constellation Pegasus also pays tribute to the Spruce Meadows sports centre, which, as well as being home to Cavalry FC, is a venue dedicated to world-class equestrian show jumping competitions. For the first time this year, Cavalry will also have at its disposal a Third Kit, the Blizzard Camouflage Kit, which features a white and grey camouflage pattern that pays homage to the club’s first-ever home match, which took place during a heavy snowstorm. The camouflage pattern also references the military and the ties that both Cavalry FC and Spruce Meadows share with it.

FORGE FC

The reigning CPL 2023 champions have confirmed a first jersey in orange, the colour that has always been associated with the Hamilton club, whilst introducing an abstract geometric pattern inspired by the sparks typically seen in a forge (forge (in English). The version Alternate It is white with orange and charcoal grey detailing on the collar, sleeve hems and sides. The design echoes the sparks featured in the club’s logo.

HALIFAX WANDERERS

The Primary Kit The Halifax Wanderers“ 2024 kit, predominantly in the club’s iconic Harbour Blue, features a design on both the front and the shoulders, showing a map of the island of Nova Scotia, with small light blue anchors marking the location of the city of Halifax. On the back of the shirt, meanwhile, is a compass rose surrounded by the words ”Not all those who wander are lost, they’re seeking a place to call home“ (“Not everyone who wanders is lost; they’re looking for a place to call home”). The Atlantic Ocean, on the other hand, is the theme of the kit Alternate, where shades of blue and white intertwine against the silhouettes of ships such as the Bluenose II and the GMCS Sackville. The kit pays tribute to Canada’s Atlantic coast and the region’s historic shipbuilding tradition.

PACIFIC FC

The new Primary Pacific FC’s kit embodies the spirit of Vancouver Island through the trident motif, which also features in the club’s logo and is repeated in an embossed design across the entire surface of the kit. The new kit Alternate The club’s kit, called the “Resilience Kit”, features designs by local artist Maynard Johnny Jr, and uses the metaphor of the salmon to pay tribute to the resilience shown by Canada’s Indigenous peoples in withstanding years of oppression. The kit is predominantly white, with details in the club’s traditional colours: purple, turquoise and black.

VALOUR FC

The new Primary kit The Valour FC kit features two horizontal maroon stripes at the top, complemented by tone-on-tone white and grey vertical stripes repeated across the lower section. This is a tribute to Winnipeg’s first historic professional football team, the Fury, which played in the Canadian Soccer League from 1987 to 1993 and was subsequently inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. The version Alternate It, on the other hand, features a sunflower in the centre, with references to the Prairie Crocus – typical of the Manitoba region – at the four corners. This highly elaborate design pays homage to Indigenous art and the club’s colours: maroon, gold, black and white.

VANCOUVER FC

The Primary Kit The Vancouver FC kit is inspired by the club’s logo: the eagle. The feathers, printed in grey using sublimation printing on the black of the shirt, start at the shoulders and extend across the entire back, fading towards the bottom. The shirt Alternate It is, in fact, a tribute to the most iconic event of the spring season in the Vancouver area, with the blossoming of over 40,000 cherry trees across the Canadian city’s metropolitan area. The entire jersey is, in fact, pink, featuring cherry blossom petals in various shades of pink on both the front and back.

YORK UNITED FC

White is the dominant colour of the Primary kit of York United FC, featuring, on the front, a design of blue vertical stripes edged in gold, alternating with five thin green lines that echo the graphic elements found in the club’s logo. The design of the shirt, on the other hand, is inspired by the world of fashion Alternate with a chequered pattern in which blue and green alternate.

All the shirts from the eight clubs are available to buy at the a section specifically dedicated to the Canadian Premier League on the website macron.com.
