Zebre Rugby Club, a franchise owned by the Italian Rugby Federation, and Macron, the ‘Hero’ company and technical sponsor of the team competing in the URC – United Rugby Championship (the new name for the former Guinness PRO14), have unveiled the new kits that the Italian XV will wear during the coming competitive season. The 2021–2022 match kits retain the multicoloured zebra-striped design, which is both an expression and a symbol of the club, representing the colours of all Italian clubs on the international stage where it takes centre stage.

The new “Home” shirt is black with a V-neck and tricolour detailing along the hem. The tricolour is also prominently featured on the sleeve hems. The back of the neck is personalised with the club logo on a zebra-striped background that echoes the design on the shirt. The front of the shirt features the distinctive multicoloured zebra-striped design. This colour scheme was created in collaboration with Areaitalia, a communications and advertising agency based in Parma, which designed the Zebre logo back in 2012. Shapes in various colours (neon pink, neon orange and neon yellow) follow one another against a background that fades from neon green to light blue. On the right-hand side of the chest, in white, is the Macron Hero, the Italian brand’s logo; in the centre is the F.I.R. crest; and on the left, over the heart, is the Zebre Rugby Club logo.

The words ‘GRAZIE LUCA” are printed in white on the outer back of the collar, in memory of Luca Sisti, the club’s video analyst who died in 2015 following a road accident. At the bottom of the back of the shirt, above the Zebre Family logo, is the inscription ‘AUT FACERE SCRIBENDA’, AUT SCRIBERE LEGENDA, a Latin motto coined by Pliny the Younger, meaning that the Zebre players have the privilege, through their exploits on the pitches of France, Ireland, Italy, the United Kingdom and South Africa, of ‘doing things worthy of being written about and recounted’.

The ‘Away’ version features the same design as the home shirt, but the dominant colour is white. It has a V-neck with tricolour detailing around the edge. The tricolour also appears on the sleeve cuffs. The back of the neck is personalised and, here too, bears the words ‘GRAZIE LUCA’. The zebra-striped graphic differs from the ‘Home’ version in that the background colours are reversed: the light blue fades into fluorescent green.

All the jerseys have a Body fit, and the fabrics used are specifically Armevo with Boditex inserts – materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability. The new match kits, as well as the exclusive range of clothing and merchandise that Macron produces for Zebre Rugby Club, are available in the club’s dedicated section on the macron.com website and at selected Macron Stores, including the one in Parma and at the Sergio Lanfranchi Stadium in Parma.
