On Sunday 3 November, the’CEO of Ceuta FC, a Spanish club competing in the Primera Federación, took to the pitch against Real Murcia wearing a kit ‘special edition’ made by Macron, which has been the technical partner of the “”Caballas’. A kit developed in partnership with Pompeii Brand, a Spanish fashion brand with particularly strong links to Spanish football culture – and beyond – which has collaborated with Macron’s design team to create a design that pays tribute to a city that is unique in so many ways.
The ‘Special Edition’ jumper’ The CEO of Ceuta FC speaks of the strong identity of this team and the city it represents. A club that is a true example of multiculturalism and inclusion, where different communities and religions coexist harmoniously. Ceuta, together with the other city, Melilla, It is one of the two Spanish enclaves on the Mediterranean coast of North Africa and is situated on a small isthmus next to Mount Hacho, which many recognise as one of the two Pillars of Hercules that, in ancient times, symbolised the edge of the known world.
The white, the black and the’gold These are the colours that characterise this jersey, rich in symbolism and history. The white knitted polo collar features a fine gold stripe, the same colour combination also appearing on the sleeve cuffs. The shirt has a black-and-white rectangular chequered pattern on both the front and back, and within the black squares there is a graphic design, tone-on-tone and repeated, which echoes the flag of the city of Ceuta and, in particular, the ‘gheronato’ – a heraldic term referring to the distinctive triangles pointing towards the centre of the coat of arms. The inside of the back of the collar features the shirt’s design as a background, alongside the AD Ceuta crest, the Pompeii logo and the Macron logo, accompanied by the inscription ‘Designed in Bologna’.
On the chest, in gold-coloured 3D silicone with a reflective finish, the following are applied on the right, one below the other: the Macron the Hero and the logo of Pompeii, on the left the club emblem. Another significant detail can be found on the outer back of the collar, where the symbols of the four religions – Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism – are also set in gold; these faiths coexist in this Spanish city on the coast of Morocco.
The jumper has a fit Slim fit, and is made entirely from Eco Fabric, which is 100% derived from recycled post-consumer plastic. Specifically, the main fabric used is Eco Piola, which combines softness and elasticity with a distinct retro touch. The inclusion of inserts in Eco Mesh It also ensures that the garment is lightweight and breathable.
Further confirmation of how a shirt can, as well as representing a club’s history, serve as a vehicle for a powerful message of sharing, peaceful coexistence and the coming together of different cultures and religions. To highlight the uniqueness of this city and its club, the launch of the shirt was accompanied by a campaign created in collaboration with Pompeii and set in Ceuta itself, featuring images and videos capturing everyday life in a city that is truly one of a kind.
