Cardiff Rugby, the Welsh side competing in the United Rugby Championship, have unveiled together with Macron, the club’s technical partner since the 2018/19 season, the new 2026/27 Home and Alternative Kits, which the players will wear throughout the upcoming season. The new campaign will get underway on 26 September with an all-Welsh derby against the Scarlets, in the competition bringing together clubs from Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Italy and South Africa.

The new shirts celebrate the club’s traditional colours and, above all, its 150-year history, which dates back to 1876 with the foundation of Cardiff RFC and the first matches played at Sophia Gardens. This journey through to the creation of Cardiff Rugby is today reflected in a tangible sign of continuity through the two crests featured on both shirts: on the right, the Cardiff RFC crest, representing the club’s origins and sporting heritage; on the left, the current Cardiff Rugby crest.

The new Cardiff Rugby 2026/27 Home shirt features a quartered design alternating black and sky blue, which is also carried through onto the sleeves, both finished with a black cuff and a thin gold stripe. On the chest, the Macron Hero is embroidered in white and positioned centrally, alongside the two crests.

The new Cardiff Rugby 2026/27 Alternative shirt, meanwhile, features a white base with a black polo collar and white inserts, while the shoulders, sleeves and side panels are crossed by black and sky-blue diagonal bands. These are enhanced by a wave pattern created using sublimated graphics, which is also repeated on the shorts and socks. The Macron Hero is embroidered in black, while the sleeve cuffs alternate between black and gold.

Inside the collar, a gold tape features the inscriptions CELEBRATING 150 YEARS and YMLAEN CAERDYDD (Forward Cardiff), separated by a representation of the rugby ball taken from the official crest. The outer backneck features the number 150, with a rugby ball incorporated into the central part of the number 5, in white on the Home shirt and black on the Alternative.

Another element shared by both kits is the embossed detail at the bottom of the shirt, depicting the skull and crossed bones, a symbol linked to the club’s origins. The reference is to the first shirt worn by Cardiff RFC in 1876, which was entirely black and featured the same emblem, itself connected to the tradition recalling Cardiff’s past as a city of pirates.

Both shirts share the graphic elements dedicated to the club’s anniversary. The personalised backneck, set against a black and sky-blue background, brings together the two crests, the Macron logo and the inscription Designed in Bologna, certifying that each garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus.

The Home Kit is completed by black shorts with sky-blue piping and black socks with a sky-blue top. The Alternative Kit features white shorts with black drawcords, a gold leg hem and side bands echoing the black and sky-blue diagonal pattern of the shirt, while the socks reproduce the same colour combination with a black top.

Both kits are made from Eco Fabric, 100% polyester derived from recycled post-consumer plastic. The main fabric used is Eco Armevo, complemented by inserts in Eco Boditex and Eco Strong Mesh, which combine performance and durability with lightness and breathability.

The new kits, together with the clothing collection created by Macron for Cardiff Rugby, are available in the dedicated section for the Welsh club on macron.com.
