Cesena FC and Macron present the 2026/27 Third kit, a tribute to the historic European match against 1.FC Magdeburg

Cesena FC and Macron are pleased to present the new 2026/27 Third Kit, a kit that pays tribute to the highest achievement in the club’s history, marking the 50th anniversary of the first and only European match played by the Cavalluccio in a continental competition.

After finishing sixth in the 1975/76 Serie A season, the Bianconeri secured an unprecedented qualification for the 1976/77 UEFA Cup. In the draw held in Zurich, they were paired with one of the strongest sides of the era, 1.FC Magdeburg, from the German city of the same name. Just two years earlier, the club had lifted the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

The design and colour palette of this Third Kit pay tribute to this important anniversary, drawing inspiration from the shirt worn by the German opponents in the first leg of the continental competition. It was a match never forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to witness it, and one that still holds a special place in the hearts of all Bianconeri fans, as reflected in the unmistakable chant: “torneremo a Magdeburgo, come nel ‘76” (“we’ll return to Magdeburg, just like in ’76”).

The Cesena FC 2026/27 Third Shirt features a royal blue base, defined by shoulder, sleeve and side inserts in a darker shade of the same colour, outlined with elegant black piping. The two white vertical stripes on the left side of the front body, inspired by the 1.FC Magdeburg shirt, are created using a sublimation print and form the central graphic element of the design. The Macron Hero is applied in white on the right chest, while the Cesena FC crest is positioned on the left, between the two stripes. This design choice recalls that historic achievement while also distinguishing the shirt from the traditional white of the Home Kit. The Third Kit therefore completes the Cavalluccio’s 2026/27 matchwear collection with a further strong expression of the club’s identity.

Further highlighting the historical connection with that event, the shoot for the new Third Kit took place in the city of Magdeburg itself, following an ideal journey through the most iconic locations associated with that historic Bianconeri adventure: from the former Ernst-Grube-Stadion, now completely renovated and known as the Avnet Arena, to the Käseglocke, the main meeting point for the blue-and-white supporters before and after home matches, and on to Magdeburg Cathedral and the most distinctive corners of the German city’s historic centre.

The reference to the 50th anniversary of the historic 1976 European clash is also reflected in other essential details completing the project. At the bottom of the shirt, a woven label features the word Magdeburg alongside the dates 1976–2026, while the outer back-neck features the club’s #DAIBURDEL claim in white, one of the most recognisable expressions of the Bianconeri identity.

The historical reference is further reinforced by the choice of Eco Everton as the main fabric for the kit. Characterised by a distinctive glossy and reflective effect, the fabric recalls the aesthetic of football shirts commonly worn across Europe during the 1980s and 1990s.

The identity of Cesena is further expressed through the internal tape at the bottom of the shirt, customised with the club motto, the Cavalluccio and the CESENA FC lettering. The customised internal back-neck label, shared across the entire 2026/27 collection, features the club’s colours and crest alongside the Macron logo, highlighting how each garment is carefully developed, designed and created at the Macron Campus.

The design continues across the other elements of the kit, with royal blue shorts featuring a white drawstring and royal blue socks, characterised by a darker shade across the upper section and a white band positioned just below.

As with all kits developed by Macron for its partner clubs, the Third Kit is made using Eco Fabric, produced from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. Alongside the aforementioned Eco Everton, used on the front of the shirt, the kit is completed by Eco Softstripe jacquard fabric inserts on the sleeves and sides, together with a rear panel in Eco Mesh James, helping to make the garment lighter and more breathable.
