Following last week’s unveiling of the home kit for the 2024–25 season, Scottish Rugby launched the new away kit made by Macron and which will be worn during the coming competitive season. Scottish identity and pride, as always, form the cornerstone of the new kits, combined with quality, technical expertise and high levels of performance, not to mention meticulous attention to graphic design and style. The shirt is made from Eco Fabric, made from 100% polyester fabric derived from recycled post-consumer plastic, reflecting the shared commitment of Scottish Rugby and Macron to sustainability and respect for the environment.
The new shirt Away It features shades of light blue, sky blue and white, with navy blue details. The jumper has a navy blue polo collar with a light blue inner lapel and a drawstring fastening, and the navy blue and light blue colour combination is also found on the sleeve cuffs. The shoulders and the upper chest are white, gradually fading into a sky blue that becomes progressively lighter towards the bottom of the jersey, and the same pattern is also found on the sleeves. The wide bands on the sides and the back hem of the jersey are light blue.
The back of the neck is customised with a design taken from the home shirt on a navy blue background, featuring the Scottish Rugby logo, the motto ‘#AsOne’ and the Macron logo, accompanied by the text Designed in Bologna, to certify and highlight how each garment is conceived, designed and developed in the Macron Campus. Inside the collar there is a personalised tape bearing the inscription Scotland interspersed with the Scottish Rugby Federation logo. The two logos are embroidered on the chest in navy blue: the Macron Hero on the right and the Scottish Rugby crest on the left.
The shirt also features two graphic details: on the sleeves, within the navy blue stripe, the words “Alba gu bràth”, a patriotic motto in Scottish Gaelic meaning “Scotland for ever”. Another distinctive detail is the sublimation print featuring two intertwined Claymores on the lower back of the jersey. The Claymore is the ancient two-handed sword used by Scottish warriors from the 14th to the 17th century.
The fabrics used are, specifically, Eco Armevo with inserts in Eco Boditex and Eco Strong Mesh, materials which, as well as being lightweight and breathable, ensure maximum durability. The new match kit, along with the Replica versions and the exclusive range of clothing and merchandise that Macron produces for the Scottish Rugby Union, are available in the section dedicated to the Scottish national team on the website macron.com.
