A team and its city, its streets, its buildings that ‘tell the story’ of a bygone era, spanning the Renaissance and the Baroque, when a group of noble palaces were designed and built in Genoa, featuring stunning façades adorned with stucco and marble, grand atria, spectacular open staircases, splendid gardens, loggias and sumptuous halls which, by decree of the Senate, were to host the distinguished guests visiting Genoa on state visits. The Buildings of the Rolli, situated in the centre of Genoa and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, have served as a source of inspiration to further enrich the new U.C. Sampdoria kits for the coming competitive season. Jerseys which, in their own right, are already steeped in history and tradition, but in which Macron has managed to combine the timeless charm of ‘the most beautiful jumper in the world’, a sophisticated and elegant design that runs as a common thread through all the Sampdoria team’s new match kits.
The new shirt U.C. Sampdoria’s 2024/25 Home Kit, a timeless icon, retains its traditional and iconic Sampdoria design, with royal blue forming the background to the four central horizontal stripes – white, red, black and white again – with the Shield of St George at the centre. The collar is a vintage-style V-neck, modelled on the design of period jerseys featuring drawstrings for fastening. The upper part and shoulders feature tone-on-tone embossed graphics, inspired by the artistic style of the 17th-century ornamental motifs found in Rolli Palaces. The inside of the back of the neck is personalised with a label featuring a background inspired by the shirt’s design, the club’s colours and the words ‘Genova 12 August 1946’ (the date of foundation of U.C. Sampdoria), the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, which certifies that every garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus. On the chest, both in silicone print, on the right the Macron the Hero, with the club crest patch on the left. On the outer back of the collar, in navy blue, is printed ‘DALE DORIA’, the chant and rallying cry of the Blucerchiati supporters. The shorts are white and feature a basketball-style design, with a navy blue trim on the back of the thigh and a diagonal stripe across the hips in the Blucerchiati colours. The royal blue socks have a navy blue top edge with a Blucerchiati stripe.
The shirt Away è white, with gold detailing along the edges of the crew neck and sleeves. Running from the right shoulder down to the hem of the shirt is a vertical ’Blucerchiata’ stripe, within which is embossed the same Renaissance-style graphic used on the home kit; in this case, it also appears, embossed, on the sleeves and in the collar band at the back of the neck. The Macron Hero logo on the chest, alongside the club crest, is also in gold.’U.C. Sampdoria, whilst the coat of arms of St George stands out in the centre of the shirt. The back of the neck and the printed slogan, also in gold, are identical to those on the first shirt. The shorts are royal blue with Blucerchiati-style detailing, whilst the white socks feature a thin horizontal gold stripe down the centre of the top edge and a vertical Blucerchiati-style stripe at calf height.
The ‘ version‘Third’It is navy blue, with a polo-style collar featuring Sampdoria details on the inside of the placket. The sleeve hems, the Macron Hero logo on the chest and the phrase ‘DALE DORIA’ on the back of the collar are in fluorescent light blue. The design, inspired by the ornamental motifs on the walls and ceilings of the Palazzi dei Rolli, features across the entire front of this third kit and on the sleeves, again in an embossed finish. In the centre are the four Blucerchiati stripes featuring the Shield of St George, whilst on the left of the chest is the U.C. Sampdoria crest, which echoes the one used in the mid-1960s. The kit is completed by navy blue shorts with Blucerchiati details and navy blue socks with a fluorescent light blue top edge and a Blucerchiati stripe in the centre.
