Although it is a mythological creature, the basilisk has certainly become part of the popular imagination, and in some cases has even become a symbol of a city. In Basel, it is easy to come across its image in numerous places, on banners and city symbols, such as the neo-Baroque railway station, the Two Towers clock, the St Gallen Gate and the many fountains found throughout the Swiss city. Alongside the Baslerstab, the basilisk has taken on an extremely significant symbolic role for this city and, consequently, for the club that represents it. The’FC Basel, together with Macron, decided to dedicate his new 2024/25 Third Kit to the basilisk, through artwork featuring this mythological creature as its central motif.
The dominant colour of the new FC Basel’s 2024/25 third kit It is the dark green, with black sleeves and black and ivory detailing on the polo collar and sleeve cuffs. The front and back of the shirt feature a sublimated graphic in a lighter shade of green, consisting of vertical stripes within which the basilisk design is repeated. The label on the inside of the back neck is personalised with the basilisk design and the ball featured in the club crest, in white on a black background. Beneath the design is the inscription ‘FC Basel 1893’ alongside the Macron logo and the text ‘’Designed in Bologna’ which certifies that every garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus.
On the right-hand side of the chest is the Macron the Hero in ivory-coloured silicone print, and on the left, in the same colour, a monochrome version of the coat of arms of the’FC Basel 1893, surmounted by the two stars symbolising the club’s 20 Swiss Championship titles. The Baslerstab is embroidered in white on the outer back of the neck, and on the inside of the back of the shirt there is a personalised strip bearing the repeated inscription ‘BRENNE FOR FCB’ (“Burning for FCB”). The shorts are dark green with an ivory drawstring and black stripes down the sides. The dark green socks have a black top edge with two thin ivory horizontal stripes and wavy black bands down the centre, featuring the acronym ‘FCB’ on the front and the year 1893 – the year the club was founded – on the back.
The Third kit, like all the game kits produced by Macron for the Swiss club, is made from Eco Fabric, a 100% fabric derived from recycled post-consumer plastic. The shirt has a fit Slim fit, and specifically, the main fabric is the’Eco Light Siren, with sleeves in Eco Softlock and the presence of the panel Eco Micromesh at the back, which ensures lightness and improves breathability.
