National identity, tradition and a strong sense of belonging continue to inspire the new Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) Home and Alternate Kits for the 2026/27 season, designed by Macron. Both kits reinterpret Wales’ most iconic symbols through refined designs developed by the Macron Style Centre, where innovation, quality and performance come together with a strong commitment to sustainability. Like all match kits produced by the Italian sportswear brand, the WRU’s new kits are made from Eco Fabric using 100% recycled polyester derived from post-consumer plastic.
Home Kit 2026/27: the dragon, a symbol of identity and strength
The new Welsh Rugby Union Home Kit for the 2026/27 season retains the traditional deep red that has always distinguished the Welsh national team. The jersey features a crew neck and sleeve cuffs in a darker shade of red, while the shoulders and sleeves are enhanced by a graphic depicting the dragon, the national emblem of Wales and the ultimate symbol of the Red Dragons. The same element also appears as an embossed graphic on the lower back of the shirt.
The chest features the Macron Hero embroidered in white and, over the heart, the Welsh Rugby Union crest. The inner backneck is customised with the kit’s colours and graphics, the WRU crest, the Macron logo and the wording Designed in Bologna, highlighting that every garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus.
The kit is completed by white shorts featuring red drawstrings and red side panels enhanced by the dragon graphic, together with all-red socks.
Alternate Kit 2026/27: a tribute to Welsh slate
The 2026/27 Alternate Kit pays tribute to one of Wales’ most distinctive natural and cultural resources: slate. The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provides the inspiration for the texture that characterises the entire jersey. Set on a white base, a sublimated graphic in shades of green recreates the natural veining of the stone, while the crew neck and sleeve cuffs are finished in a darker shade of green.
On the chest, the Macron Hero embroidered in red sits alongside the Welsh Rugby Union crest. The inner backneck features the same customisation as the Home Kit.
The kit is completed with dark green shorts featuring black drawstrings and side panels incorporating the slate-inspired texture, together with white socks finished with a green top band.

Both kits are made using technical, eco-friendly fabrics including Eco Armevo, Eco Bodytex and Eco Strong Mesh, developed to deliver maximum durability, lightness and breathability throughout the most demanding phases of play.
