Art continues to inspire the jerseys of the Italian national rugby teams and express their identity. Following last season’s collection, which drew inspiration from Classicism, the new 2026/27 Home and Away Kits created by Macron, technical partner of the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR), take their inspiration from Futurism, the artistic movement that made energy, speed and dynamism its defining characteristics.
The Azzurri, coached by Gonzalo Quesada, have recently concluded the first part of the Nations Championship with matches played in the southern hemisphere. Following the summer break, the tournament will resume in November with fixtures against South Africa, Argentina and Fiji. It promises to be an intense season, with Italy’s national teams taking to the field in new kits that not only feature a design rich in symbolism but have also been developed by Macron using high-performance materials to ensure maximum comfort and performance.
The new 2026/27 Home Kit for the Italian men’s and women’s national rugby teams retains the traditional Azzurro colour, with a crew neck enhanced by a tricolour detail. The entire surface of the shirt features a sublimated graphic inspired by the visual language of Futurism: broken lines, geometric shapes and dynamic trajectories intertwine to create a continuous sense of movement. Some elements are rendered tone-on-tone, while others incorporate the colours of the Italian flag, resulting in a composition that expresses energy, speed and strength – values that naturally reflect the spirit of modern rugby.
The white embroidered Macron Hero appears on the right chest, while the Italian Rugby Federation crest is positioned on the left. Inside the collar is a customised black tape featuring the wording “LA POTENZA E LA VELOCITÀ” (“Strength and Speed”) alternating with the FIR logo. The word ITALIA is also embossed across the lower back of the shirt. The kit is completed by shorts featuring the same graphic as the shirt, with white drawstrings and tricolour aglets, together with Azzurro socks.
The new 2026/27 Away Kit features a white base and further enhances the Italian tricolour through a graphic that extends across the front of the shirt, the shoulders and the sleeves. Once again, the design is inspired by the principles of Futurism, with intersecting and overlapping geometric elements creating a strong sense of movement and depth. The customised collar tape bearing the wording “LA POTENZA E LA VELOCITÀ” is repeated, while the embroidered Macron Hero and the sleeve cuffs are in navy blue. As with the Home shirt, the word ITALIA is embossed across the lower back. The kit is completed by navy blue shorts with white drawstrings and tricolour aglets, paired with white socks finished with a navy blue turnover.
The internal backneck of both kits features a customised label incorporating the distinctive kit graphics as a background, together with the FIR logo, the wording “LA POTENZA E LA VELOCITÀ“, the Macron logo and the inscription “Designed in Bologna“, certifying that every garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus.
Like all kits created by Macron for its partner federations and teams, the new Italy rugby shirts are made from Eco Fabric, produced from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester. The main material used is Eco Armevo, developed to provide maximum durability even during the most demanding phases of play. Eco Bodytex and Eco Strong Mesh inserts further ensure lightness, comfort and outstanding breathability.
