In Sunday night’s match against Scafati, UnaHotels Reggio Emilia took the field against bullying. As part of the ‘We Care’ project, the Reggio Emilia club wanted to give a strong signal, together with its technical partner Macron, linking the jersey worn on the court to a message expressing the common commitment to make a difference. In fact, on the occasion of the home match against the Campania-based team, the biancorossi wore a jersey characterised by the colour pink and with the hashtag #NoBullying printed on the back: a jersey that is a messenger of values, a manifesto of social commitment, as well as an awareness-raising tool. The pink of the jersey of the Reggio Emilia club was inspired by ‘The Boy with the Pink Trousers’, a film released last month in theatres that tells the true and tragic story of Andrea Spezzacatena, a victim of bullying and suicide at only 15 years of age.
Sport in itself unites, and together we make a difference
Being a team means knowing how to welcome, share, and build bonds of friendship and solidarity. Bullying, on the other hand, leaves you alone, like a ball abandoned on the pitch. This is the starting point for the commitment of UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, which has decided to use its jersey, one of the most effective communication tools in the sports field, to carry out an awareness campaign. The jersey has a value, an intrinsic strength and carries messages that the entire community makes its own out of a sense of belonging. The #Nobullying hashtag written on the jersey worn on the pitch by the players is, in fact, an essential and amplified spot in its objective of involving as many people as possible because it is lived in a context, such as sport, which in itself unites and can make a difference.
Attention that must never wane
The problem of bullying involves every aspect of our lives and every field of activity. Talking about it, raising awareness of the problem, and creating the right culture is a constant commitment, and attention on it must never wane. The sensitivity shown by UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, its management, staff, players, sponsoring partners, and supporters makes it clear how single gestures take on enormous value and can contribute to achieving essential results when united with others.
Commitment and participation means being your own hero
In Macron’s philosophy, commitment, participation and solidarity are core values, and involvement in projects like this is natural. The concept of ‘Become your own hero’ goes beyond the purely sporting meaning because it can be applied in the social and community spheres by putting one’s qualities, skills, and professionalism at the service of a common and important goal. In the UnaHotels jersey is the strong cry to break the silence, share, unite, and ensure that no person feels like a lonely ball left in a corner of the field.
