Georgia Rugby Union, one of the fastest-growing rugby teams, has chosen Macron as their technical sponsor. Known as “the Lelos”, — from lelo burti, the ancient Georgian popular folk game played with the characteristic pumpkin-shaped ball — Georgia’s national team is unquestionably an emerging force in the European rugby panorama. Georgia has already boasted 12 successes in the Rugby Europe International Championship, 14 Antim Cups (direct international challenges between Georgia and Romania) and 4 participations at the World Cup, with the first one dating back to 2003.
According to the five-year agreement with Georgia Rugby Union, Macron will provide game kits and technical gear for the national teams of the Union: the major National, the 7 National, the women’s team and the youth division. Georgia Rugby Union staff and the design team of the Italian company are already at work to develop the new game kits, with Macron’s usual attention to details and use of highly performative technical fabrics. The tailor-made and exclusive collection will exalt colours, symbols and traditions of the Georgian national team.
