The Italian Baseball Softball Federation joins the growing number of Italian sports federations to dress Macron. The partnership agreement was announced at the event dedicated to baseball clubs held at Macron’s Headquarters in Valsamoggia. The partnership will start on January 1, 2025 and will include the supply of all technical apparel to the national men’s, women’s and youth baseball and softball teams.
The FIBS was founded in 1948. In addition to managing the national baseball and softball teams, it organises all levels of the Italian men’s and women’s baseball and softball championships, as well as the one for visually impaired athletes. The history of baseball in Italy dates back to the late 1800s, when the American Albert Goodwill Spalding organised a tour to spread baseball worldwide. Three games were played in Italy, respectively in Naples, Rome and Florence. It was only after World War II, however, that Italian baseball found its own organisation and the game spread nationwide. The first official match of the Italian national baseball team was dated 31 August 1952, when in front of 12,000 spectators at the Flaminio stadium in Rome, the Azzurri surrendered to Spain 7-3. Since then, the Italian national team has collected no less than 10 European Championship titles (in addition to 17 silver medals), four Olympic Games and 18 World Championships (best result 4th place in both 1974 and 1998).
“To dress the Italian national team is always a great pride for an Italian company like ours. – said Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron – The combination of the Macron Hero and the azzurro is increasingly present among the Italian sports federations and this can only make us happy, as well as confirming the technical quality of our clothing. With baseball in particular, we have a very special bond: in 1971, when this company was born, Macron started its activity as the exclusive Italian distributor of baseball clothing and equipment. In short, Macron and baseball have known each other for over 50 years”.
“This agreement is a source of great satisfaction for us and projects us into the future,’ said Andrea Marcon, president of the FIBS. ‘Macron is an Italian brand with a historic relationship with baseball, and we are happy that it can bring all of its experience and quality to the National Italian baseball and softball teams. I would like to thank Gianluca and the entire Macron team: we are convinced that this partnership can only bring benefits to both our sports movement and Macron”.
At the same time as the announcement of the technical partnership, the Macron Campus was also the ideal stage for the presentation of the new match kits for the Italian national team. The new shirts, with their classic look, wide cut, V-neck and button fastening, are available in three versions: Home, Road and Alternate. The ‘Home’ shirt is white with sleeve borders in blue. On the sides, there are the colours of the Italian flag through two inserts, a red one on the sides and a green one that continues on the lower part of the sleeves. On the right chest, there is the Macron Hero in light blue, on the left, the heart side, the FIBS logo, while in the centre of the chest, the writing ITALIA stands out in light blue, surrounded by a thin navy blue outline. The ‘Road’ version is light blue with white sleeve edges and the colours of the Italian flag running down both sides as in the Home version. The Macron Hero on the chest is white and the writing ITALIA in light blue is outlined in black and white. Finally, in the ‘Alternate’ kit, the dominant colour is navy blue, with light grey sleeve edging, a tricolour band on the sides and light blue lettering edged in navy blue and white.
All kits have a Regular fitting and are made of Eco Fabric, a polyester material 100% derived from recycled plastic. Specifically, the main body of the shirts is in Eco Fightex, with the presence of Eco Micromesh inserts to guarantee greater lightness and breathability.
