The new seasons of the Investec Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup are underway, and Macron is set to play an even more prominent role. The Italian company, an international leader in the world of rugby, will be the most represented brand in both tournaments, with a total of 15 partner clubs participating across the two most prestigious European club competitions. In addition, the Macron Hero will take to the pitch in every match via the Match Officials, thanks to the technical partnership that, since last season, has linked Macron to EPCR, the governing body of top-level European rugby union.
Investec Champions Cup: two Macron derbies to kick off the season
In the Investec Champions Cup, 7 out of the 24 competing teams will take to the field wearing Macron as they aim for the final, just as the Northampton Saints did this past May. The clubs featuring the Macron Hero on their shirts are, in addition to the Saints, Sale Sharks, Gloucester Rugby, Edinburgh Rugby, Glasgow Warriors, Section Paloise and ASM Clermont. This evening marks the first of two “Macron derbies” scheduled for the opening round of the Champions Cup, with Sale Sharks taking on Glasgow Warriors at the CorpAcq Stadium in Salford. On Sunday 7 December, Section Paloise will face Northampton Saints in the second Macron derby.
EPCR Challenge Cup: 8 of the 18 rugby clubs wear Macron
Macron’s presence is even stronger in the EPCR Challenge Cup, where the brand outfits nearly half of the competing teams. Specifically, the Macron clubs taking part in the competition are Cardiff Rugby, Lions, Ospreys, Connacht Rugby, Cheetahs, Black Lion, Zebre Rugby and Lyon Olympique Universitaire (Lou Rugby), the latter having featured in last season’s final in Cardiff. The first team to take the field, on Saturday 6 December, will be the South African team Lions, who face Benetton Treviso. The opening round will also feature a Macron derby, with the Welsh side Ospreys meeting Ireland’s Connacht Rugby.
The spirit of the Macron Hero fills rugby stadiums
The major European Cups, the top national leagues and the prestigious Guinness Six Nations—where three of the six national teams wear Macron—are increasingly defined by the presence of the Macron Hero on the chests of athletes and referees competing in the sport’s most compelling fixtures. These athletes benefit from garments of the highest quality, offering advanced technical performance, exclusive design and innovative graphic styling. Macron extends its best wishes to all of them for a season filled with satisfaction and success.
