The Welsh Rugby Union is dedicating the first unveiling of its new season kits to the women’s national team, which this coming August will compete in the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, taking place in England. Wales will make its debut on 23 August in Manchester against Scotland – a Macron derby, as the Italian brand, a global leader in teamwear, is the technical partner of both British federations.
Macron has created a Game Set for the Welsh women’s rugby national team that fully expresses, through colours, symbols, and refined and exclusive graphics, the sense of belonging to the country they will represent at the World Cup. As with all technical garments made by Macron for its partners, it is entirely made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material composed of 100% recycled plastic. A strong message of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The WRWC Home Kit of the Welsh Rugby Union comes in the traditional shade of red, with a crew neck enriched by white inserts. The front of the body, shoulders, and sleeves feature a sublimated print graphic with a stylised and geometric, tone-on-tone pattern of the daffodil flower – one of Wales’ national symbols. On the chest, the official World Cup logo is printed on the right; in the centre, the Macron Hero is embroidered in white; on the left, over the heart, is the WRU crest. At the bottom of the back of the shirt, the word CYMRU – meaning ‘Wales’ in Welsh – appears in embossed graphic detail. The back neck label background is customised with a design that echoes the kit graphic, above which appear the Welsh Rugby Union crest, the Macron logo, and the phrase ‘Designed in Bologna’, highlighting how every garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus. The shorts are red with white drawstrings and side bands that mirror the shirt’s graphic. The white socks feature a red upper trim with a horizontal white stripe.
The WRWC Away version, also with a crew neck featuring red and black details, comes in off-white, and is characterised by a sublimated, all-over graphic representing the topographic map of Yr Wyddfa, the iconic mountains in North Wales. The same graphic is also present on the black vertical side bands of the shirt. The back neck is identical to that of the Home shirt. On the chest, in red, the official Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 logo appears on the right; in the centre, the embroidered Macron Hero; on the left, the Welsh Rugby Union crest. At the bottom of the back of the shirt, the embossed word CYMRU can be found. The black shorts feature off-white side bands incorporating the shirt graphic inside. The black socks have a white upper trim with a fine red line.
