The successful partnership between Macron, the Italian sportswear brand and leader in sportswear, and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), which began in 2020, continues with great satisfaction. For the 2025/26 season, Macron has designed and produced the new Home and Alternate Kits that will accompany the Welsh men’s and women’s national teams at the most prestigious international events. This meticulously developed collection, the result of close collaboration between the Macron Design Centre and WRU, combines creative research, the celebration of iconic Welsh symbols and a strong focus on sustainability, telling a story of history and passion through exclusive designs without compromising on top-level technical performance.
Red, tradition and pride: the new WRU 25/26 Home Kit
The new WRU Home Kit, to be worn by both the men’s and women’s national teams during the 2025/26 season, offers a modern take on the classic Welsh red jersey. It features an elegant quartered design in two different shades of red. Within the quarters, in tone-on-tone sublimated and embossed print, is the traditional Caernarfon pattern, inspired by iconic Welsh crochet blankets. The crew neck and sleeve cuffs also carry the same pattern, while the chest proudly displays the white Macron Hero logo on the right and the WRU crest over the heart on the left. On the back, the embossed “CYMRU” (‘Wales’ in Welsh) adds an iconic finishing touch, underlining the strong national identity. Red shorts with matching side panels and white socks complete a kit that perfectly blends tradition with contemporary design.
Yr Wyddfa as an epic symbol: the 2025/26 Alternate Kit
The Alternate Kit 2025/26 features a base colour in off-white with a beige tone, enriched by an all-over sublimated graphic depicting the topographic map of Yr Wyddfa, the country’s highest peak, linked to the legend of King Arthur. The same graphic appears on the black side panels, adding a refined and distinctive look. On the chest, in red, are the Macron Hero and the WRU crest. On the back, once again, the embossed “CYMRU” inscription reinforces the sense of national pride. Black shorts and matching socks with red and off-white details complete a balanced and characterful ensemble.
