Liège is a combative, proud city that never gives up, just as it did when it resisted the siege of Charles the Bold in 1468, during which the city burned for several weeks. In the early 1900s, Belgian writer Henry Carton de Wiart published a chivalric novel entitled “La Cité Ardente”, celebrating the heroism of the citizens of Liège during that time. Cité Ardente has since become the nickname of Liège, symbolising passion, strength and a spirit of independence. With its new 2025/26 Third Kit, designed by Macron, Standard de Liège pays tribute to its city, its spirit, and its flame that never extinguishes.
The dominant colour of Standard de Liège’s new 2025/26 Third shirt is black, with a coral crew neck and sleeve cuffs. The front, shoulders and sleeves feature an embossed graphic made up of a series of burning flames, directly referencing the Cité Ardente. In coral, the Macron Hero is positioned on the right of the chest, while the Belgian club’s crest appears embroidered on the left in a monochrome coral version set against a black background.
The backneck is customised with a red and white label featuring the club logo and the Standard motto PASSION, FIERTÉ, FERVEUR, alongside the Macron logo and the phrase ‘Designed in Bologna’, highlighting that every garment is conceived, designed and developed at Macron Campus. On the inner collar, the club’s founding year, 1898, is printed in coral. On the outer back neck, the three motto words from the inner label are repeated, together with a star symbolising the ten Belgian league titles won. The kit is completed by black shorts featuring the same “ardent” graphic on the sides and fine coral stripes on the hem. The black socks include a set of coral stripes on the top edge.
Like all Macron garments produced for Standard de Liège, the Third Kit is made from Eco Fabric, a 100% polyester material derived from recycled plastic. Specifically, the shirt is made from Eco Softlock, a lightweight yet highly tear-resistant fabric developed especially for match kits. The back panel in Eco Micromesh and the Eco Mesh inserts ensure optimal breathability.
