A tribute to ‘Biscuit Town’ in the new Reading FC 2025/26 Home Kit designed by Macron

The unique link of Reading with the biscuit industry has inspired the design of the new 2025/26 Home Kit created by Macron.

“The Biscuitmen” was the original nickname of Reading Football Club. The club, one of the oldest in the United Kingdom and now more commonly known as The Royals, was initially associated with the famous biscuit company Huntley & Palmers, which had its headquarters in Reading. This unique link with what was, during the 19th and much of the 20th century, the largest biscuit brand in the world—so much so that Reading became known as Biscuit Town—has inspired the design of the new 2025/26 Home Kit created by Macron, the club’s technical partner since 2019. A tribute to a hugely important part of the Berkshire town’s history, which Reading FC proudly represents.

The new Reading FC 2025/26 Home Shirt features the traditional white and blue hoops design. The blue parts, however, are enriched with an elaborate sublimation-printed graphic. This specific blue pattern, with red detailing, is inspired by the ornamental designs once found on the famous Huntley & Palmers biscuit tins, which by 1900 were reaching all corners of the globe—from Africa to Tibet to the South Pole. The shirt has a V-neck collar with red-white-blue trim, which also appears on the sleeve cuffs. On the right chest, in blue silicone print, is the Macron Hero logo, while on the left is the Reading FC crest, produced in silicone print on a base with a suede-effect finish.

The backneck is personalised with a blue background label featuring, in tone-on-tone, the ornamental graphics found on the shirt. The label is completed with the club crest and the wording READING FC 1871, the Macron logo, and the phrase ‘Designed in Bologna’, to certify and highlight that each garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus. On the external rear collar, a blue print of the crown—found in the club crest alongside the lion—is featured. The shorts are blue with white side stripes, and the socks are blue with a white band and a thin red line at the top.

The Reading FC Home Kit, like all those created by Macron for its partner clubs, is made using Eco Fabric, a 100% polyester material derived from post-consumer recycled plastic. Specifically, the fabric used is Eco Softlock, with a back panel in Eco Micromesh and inserts in Eco Mesh, ensuring the garment is lightweight and perfectly breathable. This kit, along with the other garments produced by Macron for the English club, is available at macron.com.
