On Sunday, November 3, AD Ceuta FC, a Spanish club that plays in the Primera Federación, has taken the field in the match against Real Murcia wearing a Special Kit made by Macron, from this year technical partner of the ‘Caballas’. A kit developed in partnership with Pompeii Brand, a Spanish fashion brand particularly linked to football culture, which collaborated with Macron’s style office to create a design that pays tribute to a unique city in many ways.
AD Ceuta FC’s ‘Special Edition’ shirt tells of the strong identity of this team and the city it represents. A club that is a true example of multiculturalism and inclusion in which different communities and religions coexist peacefully. Ceuta, together with the other city Melilla, represents one of the two enclaves of Spanish territory on the Mediterranean coast of northern Africa and lies on a small isthmus next to Mount Hacho, which many recognise as one of the two Pillars of Hercules that in antiquity symbolised the limit of the known world.
White, black, and gold are the colours that characterise this shirt, which is rich in symbols and history. The white knitted polo collar has a fine gold stripe, and the same colour combination is also present on the sleeve edges. The shirt features a black and white rectangular chequered pattern, both on the front and back, and has a tone-on-tone, repeated graphic inside the black part that recalls the flag of the city of Ceuta and, in particular, the gheronato, a heraldic term that indicates the particular triangles that point to the centre of the flag. The backneck inside the collar takes up the graphics of the jersey in the background, together with the AD Ceuta FC crest, the Pompeii logo and the Macron logo, accompanied by the words ‘Designed in Bologna’.
On the chest, made of 3D gold-coloured silicone with a reflective effect, are applied to the right, one below the other, the Macron Hero and the Pompeii logo, and to the left, the club crest. Another significant detail is on the outer backneck where the symbols of the four religions, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism, which coexist in this Spanish city on the coast of Morocco, are applied, again in gold.
The shirt has a slim fit, and is made entirely of Eco Fabrics, 100% derived from post-consumer plastic recycling. The main fabric used is Eco Piola, which adds a distinct retro touch to softness and elasticity. Eco Mesh inserts also ensure the garment’s lightness and breathability.
This is a further confirmation of how a kit can, in addition to representing the history of a club, be the vector of a strong message of sharing, peaceful coexistence, and the encounter of different cultures and religions. To reinforce the uniqueness of this city and its club, the launch of the kit was accompanied by a campaign created in collaboration with Pompeii and set right in Ceuta, with images and videos taken from the daily life of a truly unique city.
