Macron and the Italian Rugby Federation have unveiled the new 2025/26 Third Kit, completing the Game Set available to the Azzurri national teams for the upcoming season and continuing the narrative introduced with the launch of the Home and Away versions: a tribute to the Italian Risorgimento.
There could be no more fitting backdrop than Genoa – and the Quarto rock, used as the set for the launch campaign – to present a new match jersey inspired by the expedition of the Mille, from which its unique colour choice takes its cue. The shirt is entirely in Garibaldi Red, a colour recalling the jackets worn by Garibaldi’s volunteers, now synonymous with values such as heroism and indomitable spirit – qualities perfectly embodied by the Azzurri on the field. To further underline this tribute, the presentation photoshoot was held in Quarto itself, with men’s national team players Jacopo Trulla and Alessandro Fusco, and women’s players Isabella Locatelli and Sara Mannini posing before the Monumento ai Mille.
The new Third Kit of the Italian National Rugby Team will make its exclusive debut on 22 February in Lille against France, during the third round of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations – the fixture valid for the Garibaldi Trophy – and again during the Guinness Women’s Six Nations match on 11 April.
As with the Home and Away versions, the Garibaldi Red Third Shirt features a pattern inspired by the veining of Botticino Marble, the material used to construct the Vittoriano, the emblematic monument of Italian unification. The sublimated tonal graphic covers the entire shirt and also appears on the navy-blue shorts, which together with the red socks complete the kit. The shirt features a polo collar with golden detailing, while the inner collar tape is also gold and displays the phrase “QUI SI FA L’ITALIA O SI MUORE!” (“Here we make Italy, or we die!”), a quote attributed to Garibaldi during the Battle of Calatafimi. The internal backneck label is customised with the FIR and Macron logos and the wording Designed in Bologna, highlighting that every garment is conceived and crafted at the Macron Campus. On the chest, the Macron Hero is embroidered in white on the right, with the Federation crest on the left. On the outer back neck, the word ITALIA in gold is accompanied by the tricolour, while an embossed graphic of the Vittoriano is featured on the lower back.
The new kits are made in Eco Fabric, a 100% recycled polyester obtained from post-consumer plastic, reaffirming the strong, shared commitment of Macron and the Italian Rugby Federation to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The fabrics used – Eco Bodytex, Eco Armevo and Eco Strong Mesh – ensure lightness, breathability and durability, essential elements to support athletes through a season that, following these Test Matches, will enter the heart of the prestigious Guinness Six Nations.
