To mark the 125th anniversary of the founding of the club’s football department, Ferencváros TC and Macron have unveiled an exclusive limited-edition retro jersey, a faithful reinterpretation of the club’s first-ever kit. Presented to the public through a new storytelling video, this special shirt celebrates more than a century and a quarter of history, identity, and success.
The new retro jersey is a unique collector’s piece, designed for supporters who wish to hold a tangible symbol of FTC’s heritage. Blending traditional aesthetics with modern textile innovation, the shirt evokes the atmosphere of the early 1900s while offering contemporary comfort and durability.
A design inspired by the first FTC jersey
Based closely on the club’s original match shirt, the new jersey features the traditional green and white vertical stripes. The body, sleeves and back are all produced in Eco Fabric, a 100% recycled polyester obtained from post-consumer plastic, and specifically in Eco Checked Jacquardwhich gives the garment a textured, heritage-inspired look.
The polo-style neck, complete with two buttons and ribbed detailing, lends the shirt a formal, vintage elegance, while the long sleeves enhance its unmistakably retro appearance. On the left chest sits an embroidered patch echoing the earliest club crests, a detail that anchors the jersey firmly in its historical origins. To keep the jersey’s aesthetic as faithful as possible to the original, the embroidered Macron Hero patch, green with white outlines, is not positioned as usual on the right side of the chest, but on the right shoulder.
A tribute to 125 years of Ferencváros TC football
Founded in 1899, Ferencváros Torna Club originally brought together athletes from several sports, including swimming, athletics, gymnastics and cycling. In 1900, recognising the need for greater organisational development, the club formally created its football section on 3 December—an historic milestone honoured by this commemorative jersey.
This anniversary year also provides the opportunity to celebrate the club’s extraordinary achievements over more than a century: the 60th anniversary of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup triumph, the 50th anniversary of the European Cup Winners’ Cup final, and the 30th and 5th anniversaries of reaching the UEFA Champions League group stage. The jersey therefore becomes both a tribute to the origins of Ferencvárosi TC and a celebration of its unparalleled footballing legacy.
