“I feel a bit like a distribution chain between the territory and the company.”
With this effective metaphor, Tommaso Righi, Area Manager at Macron, describes his role: a figure of connection and responsibility, who, on one hand, supports stores in achieving budgets and goals, and on the other, works on territorial development, creating new partnerships and managing agreements with top-tier clubs.
His area of action is broad, covering Northern and Central Italy as well as Northern Europe: Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.
From boxes to the international market
Tommaso’s journey began in 2017 with a post-master’s internship.
“I started by opening boxes, doing quality control, handling shipments, designing logos, and printing kits. I spent two years abroad as a store manager, then returned to Italy: first in Florence, in the sales department, and finally back home in Bologna as Area Manager.”
An evolution built step by step, thanks to skills, ambition, and a willingness to learn.
Ambition, training, and vision for the future
Tommaso sees personal growth as an integral part of company growth. “Being ready for the next step is essential because Macron’s expansion creates continuous new opportunities.”
Not only that, today he contributes to the growth of others by supporting the members of the Macron Sales Academy. “It’s a beautiful experience. Training means leaving a piece of yourself. You need to dedicate time, listening, and availability. But it’s the right thing to do: the priority is to properly train these new recruits.”
The challenges of being an outsider
In the early years, Tommaso had to overcome a personal challenge: feeling like part of a team where many colleagues had shared the entire professional journey within Macron.
“It wasn’t a problem of relationships, actually: here I’ve made some of my most important friendships. But at the beginning, I felt a bit like an outsider.”
A perception he was able to transform into strength, earning recognition and results on the field.
Dynamism and freedom to interpret the role
What he loves most about his job is the variety. “I can be in the office, with clients, or visiting a club. The role is dynamic and leaves room for personal interpretation. If you can seize the opportunities and interpret it well, you grow. Otherwise, you risk getting lost.”
A company built on people
Over the years, Tommaso has experienced from the inside the transformation of Macron: from a growing company to a structured organization focused on people. “Macron provides us with concrete tools to work well and relate to colleagues and clients. It’s a place where it’s easy to work and where you find new stimuli every day.”
If you want to work in sports, you work at Macron
For Tommaso, everything can be summed up in one word: passion. The same passion that fuels work, relationships, and daily energy. “Working in sports, in Italy, means working at Macron. It’s the best company for anyone who truly wants to experience this world.”
