Roberto Malatesta: passion and curiosity, the keys to growth

A journey through challenges, innovation and team spirit in his experience at Macron

Roberto Malatesta joined Macron in 2019, bringing with him a wealth of skills and experience from the fashion and luxury industries—but most importantly, the curiosity and passion that truly make a difference. Today, as Head of Pattern & Technical Development, he leads a team of pattern makers and garment technicians, overseeing the entire product development process: from designing and creating patterns (supported by new 2D/3D technologies) to producing the final product, collaborating with different company departments and international production facilities.

Macron: a second professional youth

For Roberto, every new professional challenge is a great opportunity to test himself and improve. He describes his experience at Macron as a “second youth,” seeing himself in many of the young professionals working there today. It has been an adventure that led him to discover how a sports product, seemingly simple, can actually be incredibly complex and stimulating—especially when the creative and design vision focuses on extreme detail.

They’re part of the game—some obstacles are easier, others require more effort, but with experience, patience, reflection, and determination, you can overcome anything.”

His goal is to refine work quality, improve processes, and bring a tailor-made touch to product fitting across different collections. “They have so many opportunities now; they must seize them with hunger, grit, and determination.” He reminds young professionals that success comes only through sacrifice and great humility.

Since joining Macron, Roberto has witnessed firsthand the company’s transformation: from a small, family-run business to an international organization structured into business units, becoming a reference brand in the sports world. This evolution required openness and flexibility: “Being open-minded allows you to grow with the company, adapt to new challenges, and always feel in sync with your role.”

It has been a transformation that has created space for young talent while also valuing the experience of senior professionals, achieving a perfect balance between innovation and tradition.
